Only a roaring fire enabled J. M. Garretson of San Antonio, Tex., to li down when attacked by asthma, from which he suffered for years. He writes his misery was often so great that it seemed he en dured the agonies of death; but Dr. King's New Discovery for Consumption wholly cured him. This marvelous medicine is the only known cure for asthma as well as consumption, coughs and colds, and all throat, chest and lung troubles. Price 50c and $1 00. Trial bottles free at O. O. Krog stad's drug store. Miss Caroline H. Pemberton, a niece of the Confederate general of the same name, writes to the Springfield Republican to protest against holding the whole negro race responsible for the crimes of a few. "I venture to assert," she declares, "that patient faithfulness isjustas much in evidence through out the South today as it was dur ing the days of slavery and the Civil War. Only you must look for it in the right place. It can be found among the innumerable house and body servants in probably the same proportion that it was found among the household slaves; it is to be ob served in negro overseers having charge of large plantations, and more than iu any other class it is to be found highly developed among the many hundreds of negro teach ers graduates of philanthropic colleges who are giving their lives in heroic efforts to uplift the ignor ant and degraded of their own race in the South." Cuts and Bruises Quickly Healed. Chamberlain's Pain Balm applied to a cut, bruise, burn, scald or like injury will instantly allay the pain and will heal the parts in less time than any other treatment. Unless the injury is very severe it will not leave a scar. Pain Balm also cures rheumatism, sprains, swellings and lameness. For sale by O. O. Krog stad, druggist. CALL FOR COUNTY WARRANTS. What a common thing it is for man to work twenty years accumu lating a competency and then de cide he can do better iu some far away state, remarks an exchange. He sells his property at a sacrifice, tries some other location, and in a few years finds his little fortune scattered to the four winds. Every train that passes through this town is loaded with chumps. One half the passengers have been west or east and got broke and . are return ing to their old homes to begin over again. The other half have just sold their old homes and are run ning away to become poor. Why are people so foolish? The whole world is alike all around. There is no place where the climate is al ways pleasant, no place where con tentment dwells; there is no place where wealth is easily gained. No place where work seems play. Don't run to the other side of the world expecting to find anything diflerent. The writer of the above has, to a great extent, the correct idea, but any man in drouthy por tions of the middle west may win by coming to Oregon. True, ev ery state has its drawbacks, but Oregon has the least number. s2 i - . aad cur Choice ujj One racket cither Wonderful B.-acilas Aster, Jar-aacca fc-J j ij IIorz.'r.'j Glory, or Pansy OJZ Phn.
