Peter Schirmer reports that hie sons killed a whoppin' big bear a few days ago the largest, with but one exception, that he has seen in Oregon. The Leadkk: I see that old Granny Scott, the ex sheep herder of -Yamhill and editor-in-chief of tbeOregonictn, is trying to raise a scare over the nomination of Mr. Roosevelt for vice president. He also seems to think Senator MeBride a very small man. How about Corbett I mean his Henry? Comment is unnecessary. Do you suppose he wants hush money ? A Reader. Our correspondent seems to for get that there are moments when Scott is not a republican nor any thing else, politically speaking. The platform could not be con structed that would suit his peculiar and variable ideas, and no candi date is an all-around success unless he has been discovered aud brought to the front by the cynical and sour-tempered editor of the Or- egoiiiat). What our correspondent refers to is simply Scott's natural gait.
