The Pacific coast deserves this recogni tion, and the magic names "Or egon" and "Olympia" would cause the people ot Oregon and Washing- to rise as a unit and whoop it up for Mckinley and Scott. We heartily second the motion of the Sau Francisco Wave. The attention of our readers is directed to the announcement on another page ol Josiah Gideon as a candidate for school superintendent; also to the fact that his name will appear upon the ballots as an "In dependent Republican." This is certainly a unique method ot plac ing the office "out of the reach of politics."
