Blue has a music class that is making good progress. . Mr. Monroe of Waldport spent Tuesday in Yaquina, on his way to Salem and Portland. Mrs. Thomas Ferr of Oysterville and Miss Anna Wright of Pool's slough were welcome visitors in Yaquina Monday. Mrs. W. M. Bonta of Washing ton was in the city several days wailing for the storm to abate. She is going to Seal Rocks to spend the summer with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. D. Clark. A goodly number of neighbors and friends assembled at the Rowe house Tuesday evening to bid good bye to Mrs. George Malony, who goes to join her husband at Aber deen, Wash. Lewis, F.sq., came to town today and is laying in a good sup ply of tine beehives, some that he purchased in Toledo recently. Mr. and Mrs. Will Gray of Cor vallis came last Friday and have been visiting relatives at Eddyville and with A. L. Chitwood on Simp son creek, returning home Monday. Messrs. Ira Whitney and Leo Kurtichanov have returned to the train Wednesday morning. He is helping to get together all the mo hair in the community, and is pooling it, so as to make a clean sweep at one shipment. That is business, all right. Mrs. J. E. Wilson, who is visit ing her old home in Illinois, writes back that she is getting very home sick and intends returning soon; that when she gets back to Oregon she "will be satisfied to stay; that "it isn't like it used to be i.i Ill inois." Mr. and Mrs. Will Cook, who went east at the same time, tell the same story. TiLLiCUM. April 11, 1900. Chitwood No. 2. Had a slight frost Monday night. Rev. C. M. Brown will preach at this place S'-nday evening, April 15. Charles B. Mason is kept very busy at present vibrating between the store and the kids. A. L. McDonald seems to be purchasing quite a variety of house hold furniture at present. Wonder what next? The school children are enjoying a vacation while Miss Alice Mason is attending the teachers' examina tion at Toledo. Mr. Durkee and family did not leave for South Dakota this week, as they had expected to, but will remain here for the present. Mr. and Mgs. Gray of Corvallis are visiting the latter's sisters, Mrs. E. A. McBride of Eddyville, and Mrs. O. A. Chitwood of this place. The People's party of Little Elk precinct nominated G. r. l.uckey for justice and Ben Hunt for con stable, both of Eddyville. The re publicans nominated J. E. Wilson and L. F.
