To the Editor: I read an article in the last issue of your paper from W. J. Reidy in regard to the pro posed ferry to be put on the Ya quina river at the mouth of Mill creek for the accommodation of people who may desire to cross the liver at that place. The citizens of Elk City have no objections what ever to a ferry being put in there if the people will keep it up and oper ate it themselves. Mr. Reidy, be ing a public-spirited man, might run the ferry himself and charge toll for his trouble. We never saw the petition for the ferry and had no means of knowing just what was wanted, but understand the county was asked to put the ferry in, keep it in repair and hire a man to run it in short, to maintain a free ferry. We thought this would be an expensive business, and too much for the county to do at the expense of the taxpayers. This was all the objection made, and if nothing of that kiud is contem plated in the petition, then, of course, the people of Elk City have nothidg more to say. In regard to the bridge to be built on the Big Elk river, of which Mr. Reidy makes a great deal of complaint, I would sny that bridge is badly needed, and the people all through that country, including Drift creek, asked the court by petition that the bridge be built. I think Mr. Reidy himself signed the petition. X. Demochatic County Convention. A county convention of the democrats of Lincoln county is hereby called to meet in the circuit .court room in the city of Toledo on Friday, April , l!)00, for the purpose, of electing four delegates to the Mate convention to meet in l'ort land 011 April 12, 1000, ami for the fur ther purpose of nominating candidates for the various county ollices. We have saved many doctor bills since we began using Chamberlain's Cough Remedy in our home. We keep a bottle open all the time and whenever any of my family or my self began to catch cold we begin to use the Cough remedy, and as a result we never have to send away for a doctor and incur a large doctor bill, for Chamberlain's Cough Remedy never fails to cure. It is certainly a medicine of great merit and worth. D. S. Mearkle, Gen eral Merchant and Farmer, Mattie, Bedford county, Pa. For sale by O. O. Krogstad, Druggist. ! A A-A I i Notice to Voters.
