Stark have moved down into their furniture store. Vern Blue was quite sick Satur day from the effects of much water melon. Mrs. Thomas Ferr was in Ya quina Tuesday evening calling on friends. Mr. and Mrs. William Weaver left Thursday morning for Frank lin, their future home. tester Dobson went out to Eu gene Tuesday, where he has secured a position. His family will follow soon. Mrs. G. L. Boone of Mill 4 was in Yaquina Wednesday visiting with her daughter, Mrs. Lester Dobson. MissLoree Bartges departed Mon day for a two-weeks' visit in Port land, after which she will go to Dayton, Wash. Captain Clark and daughter and Mrs. Hamilton from the life-saving station were pleasant callers in Yaquina Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Peek and daughter Ethel left Thursday morn ing for Pe Ell, Wash., their future home for a few months, at least. Salmon fishing on lowpr bay has greatly improved this week. Jim Short was high boat Tuesday night with 104. Others made unusually good catches. Miss Carrie Wass from Newport visited friends in Yaquina Tuesday and attended the medical lecture delivered by Mrs. Hitchcock of Portland. Albert Lutjens has built an addi tion to his store. Charles Allen returned from the hopyards last Monday. The potato crop is reported blicht- ed on the river this autumn. The farmers are busy setting in their crops, for our Indian summer will soon be over. Silas Ilowtll of Yahats broueht in a load of chittim legal tender one day last week. Henry Simmons has moved from the Guin ranch below the ranch He now lives in town. Messrs. Harrison are sawin an other cargo-of lumber, the fourth cargo shipped ftom here this sum- mer. More beautiful weather could not be asked for, and we are enjoying it- Uncle Jimmie Chitwood is about to commence his harvest of beans and pumpkin pies. The hoppickers have about all returned from the Valley. Some of them did quite well. A. L. Chitwood is recovering very fast from his burns which he received at the time his house burned. Jack Derrick is hauling his bark and storing it in Mr. Whitney's barn to hold it for a higher price. He has about eight tons. i lamv emu ucitua diitwuou nave returned from the hop yards, and Frank is helping his father build a new house where the former one stood. Tom Williams, the young stock king who is located on the head of Little O.lalla, is around here buying cattle of all kinds. He is paying a good price for them. Both the Chitwood merchants seem to be doing a good business, by the number of customers seen at the stores. They have been buy ing lots of chittim bark this summer. Tum Tum.
