Chitwood, Or., Oct. 4, 1S99. Editor Leader: Will you kind ly give space in your columns for a few words of appreciation to those who so generously administered to us in time of need. When .our house, precious keepsakes, furni ture, library and winter's supplies were nearly all consumed, and we realized our helpless condition sit uated where we could not get money or supplies for work we earnestly cried to the Creator and Upholder of all things for help. Atter a night of suffering our condition was made known, and kind ones came to our assistance. We recognize the Holy Spirit as the foundation of every good in thought or act. While this is true, and we thank Him for blessings received, yet recognize persons who have been inspired to act the part of the Good Samaritan to us. While we have lost many mementoes of old f.iends, we find they are not forgotten, and now we have evidence of many new and dear ones. Our hearts will ever go Gilt ill gratitude lO lliC gl vol" Oi CiLli article, great or small. We sincere ly thank all. We cannot recom pence you, can only say look to Him who said, "Thou shalt be blessed." See Luke 14:12-14. J. E. Wilson desires us to state that anyone doubting his faithfulness in discharging duties to them or us, to please write and we will give a receipt, etc. Respectfully A. L. and O. A. Chitwood. REV. S. Ta., contracted a severe cold which was attended from the beginning by violent coughing.' He says: "After resorting to a number of so-called 'specifics,' usually kept in the house, to no purpose, I purchased a bottle of Chamberlain's Cough Remedy, which acted like a charm. I most cheerfully recommend it to the public." For sale by Otto O. Krogstad, druggist. . For Sale. House and lot centrally located at Toledo; also 20 acres improved at Storr's. Address Geo. T. Otto Krogstad, Voluntary Observer. . . An exchange, who evidently be lieves in sounding loud the praise of woman, remarks: "Was a woman ever known to blow out the gas or be buncoed by a man who wanted to borrow money to pay a freight bill? Does she ever get her pockets picked or loes money at a little game? If she has a roll of bills with her, does she ever flash it out when she wants to buy a cake of chewing gum? Isn't it a fact that she is wiser with money when she is traveling than the men, and more to be trusted? Instead of a woman having a man along to "protect her," the daily papers prove that every man who gees away from home should have a woman to act as guardian, and keep him from making a bigger j fool of himself than he naturally is." j James Reed Injured. Mr. James Reed, struck his leg i against a cake of ice in such a man- j ner as to bruise it severely. It be-' came very much swollen and pained j him so badly that he could not j walk without the aid of crutches. He was treated by physicians, also used several kinds of liniment and two and a halt gallons of whiskey in bathing it. but nothing gave any relief until he began using Cham berlain's Pain Balm. This brought almost a complete cure in a week's time and he believes that had he not used this remedy his leg would have .had to be amputated. Mr. Reed is one of the leading mer chants of Clay Court House, W. Va. Pain Balm is unequaled for sprains, bruises and rheumatism. For sale by O. O. Krogstad , drug eist. .
