Every potmasterln Mneoln comity Is untrtqrii- ea to act aa agem lor me uhaukb, Entered at the poatoDlre at Toledo, Oregon, if aecoad-elaaa mail matter, The Comity Printing. It is disagreeable lor the Leader to engage in a personal fight or to publish, its personal troubles to the people, but in the matter of the decision of the county court regard ing the county printing for the current year it deems itself justified in' making a statement of the facts in the matter, which are these: The statute provides that in the , January session of the cqunty court they shall determine on an official paper for the ykar, This matter is determined in the following man- ner: . Every- paper w the county which desires the county printing must file with the county court at its January term a sworn. lis of its bona fide annual subscribers living within the countyj.,and the paper having the largest list shall be designated as the official county; i;aper. When the county court of Lincoln county met in January last the Leader presented a list of sub scribers duly sworn to. . , No other list was presented. The comity court then made the following order in the matter: . ,; "In the matter of the letting of the county printing, the Yaquina Bay News and Yaquina Post having failed to file their subscription list, the matter was deferred ..until the February term." ; 1 Thus it will be seen that the Yaquina Bay News and the Yaquina Post were given a month more 'to Aistle subscrbers , in than the Leader had. When the mattr came up iri the Februray term the Yaquina Bay News did not file a list of subscribers. The Post did, but did not positively swear to the list, so the court kindly gave him more time to prepare his list. When the list was finally sworn to, . the county and state in which thq subscribers lived were omitted, At the Toledo' ptfstoffice ha claims 74 subscribers; which perhaps is nearly correct. At Newport' post office he 'claims 100 subscribers. The Post seems to be very popular at Newport. His list there is $uch a wonderful thing that we give it as it was sworn to. It is as follows: Jas Hume, J W ltUHhton, C II WllUauia, i i Nye, HA Logan, J 11 Uoriuuii, ('apt. 'The case was ap pealed from the county court and will be brought up for the district court to decide, v We will now see whether the element that h as been bucking the Deader so hard for some time will not get a perfect sufficiency of it by the time they get through.
