Of course whpu we exposed thofjjftvncr ship map business we knew that we would have jio chance to get to print the blanks, - but after the Post and News were sold body and sjuI, and that at a miserable price, friend Parker ought to have given them a show down onhisjob work n way, and kept the money in the i:ounty. - The republicans of Toledo and vicinity met at the court house last light to take steps toward organizing- a Young Me i' republican club. E. D. Carson was elected temporary chairman and M. E. Peairs, secretary. Upon motion it ; .was decided not to organize until a week from Saturday night. Last Sunday was Easter, and for a wonder it did not rain. This in sures us that we will not be visited by the proverbial seven rainy Sun days, unless the sign fails. The saw mill has been running for several days but is now delayed on the account of a lack of logs. The mill is sawing out the lumber for the Elk City bridge. The honor of being the oldest inhabitant of Lincoln county is claimed by John A. Olsson, of Newport. He landed at Oyster ville in the early part of 1864 and has been a resident of the Bay country ever since. J. Win. Will, the well . known music dealer of Corvallis, died at a health resort in California last week, of consumption. The mystery of the big tracks mentioned in last weeks paper as being discovered by Bob Campell ha been satisfactorily explained. Bob was hunting cattle and had wandered around, until he got onto his own tracks. He was very nat urally surprised at their size. This version also removes all doubt as lo the truth of the .lory coiicerniiig their size. All indications point to a good immigration to this part of Oregon this year. Already numerous home seekers have invaded our borders and frequent letters :re received asking In format ion concerning our resources, location, advantages lo homcseekers, etc. The prospect of a large increase in Ihe number of inhabitants within the county dur ing the present year is uuexeeplion nlly good. HORN. HAWLEY To Mr. and Mrs A L. Haw ley, on Monday, March zo, 1094, a ciaugnter. DIM). CARD At the home of her son in Waterloo, Linn county, Oregon, 011 Saturday, March 24, 1894, Mrs. Phoebe Card, aged 86 years. Grandma Card, as she has been long called, was one of the pioneers of Oregon. She came to the stale from Minnesota in 1864 and in company with her family moved to Yaquina Bay in 1865, since which tune she has been well known and greatly loved by almost every resi dent of Yaquina Bay. She had apprrenlly been in her usual good health until a few days before her death. The giving away of her physical strength before the ravages of old age was the cause of her demise. In the death of Grandma Card every family of old settlers on the Bay feel that they have lost a true personal friend, and in many house holds will sadly miss her cheerful visits, tone was kind and always ready to help in sickness, and her many acts of Christian charity will keep her memory green with many Yaquina Bay families. She was interred in the Waterloo cemetery on Sunday. Ihe ninth annual convention of ihe Oregon Slate Sunday School association will be held in the Eirst M. E. church in foaleul, opening Wednesday, May 2, 1S94, at 2 p. m. and closing Eriday, May 4, at noon. ii.ery person interested in Sunday School work is cordially in vited. Every school in the stale is urged lo send as many delegates as possible.' The names of all persons expecting lo and desiring entertain ment should be sent to W. W.
