In the published financial ex hibit of Benton county on July 1 , 1893, appears the item: "In Ham ilton, Job & Co's bank, $11,057, 86." The indications are that it will stay there a while, too. W. I. Coun ty Treasurer Denlinger recently wrote to the state treasurer concern ing the matter and received in re ply a newspaper clipping giving the amounts due the various counties, with an explanatory note at the bottom which stated that warrants for the amount due each county had been forwarded to each comity th.t had paid its state tax, but that there would be no hur-y to p:iy those that had not yet paid such tax. Inasmuch as Lincoln county does not owe the state any lax, it would seem that the warrant for its share should have been received some time ago, We would suggest that the stale treasurer make ar rangements to answer correspond ence in a somewhat more definite manner than by a newspaper clip ping.
