Forty five miles of track on the Willam ette Pacific Hallway have been laid, the steel crew having reached tho fifth crossing of the Sluslnw Hlver. Operations will cense for a week or more, until the steel bridge nt this point Is completed nnd then the rail I crew will proceed to the sixth cross ing, where another delay will bo en- I countered. After tho sixth bridge Is In place there will be only one bridge to finish, that across Lake Creek. It Is estimated that there wilt bo u (week's work on each of these three, and after the last one Is completed the trnck will bo rushed on to Maple ton, which Is nt the head of tldo on the Sluslnw Hlver. It Is prob able that some kind of celebration will he held at the beginning of train service to that town. Trains nro now operating as far as the Hlcli ardson place, 37 miles west of 13u gene.
