Tho Breakwater arrived in this -morning from Portland after a good 'trip down the coast. It has been de cidedly rough off tho mouth of the Columbia river, but tho storm has been lessening the last day or so. "The Breakwater had a fair passenger list and a good cargo of freight. This was tho statement of W. G. Lee, Stead of tho trainmen, at the hoad .qiiartcrs of tho trainmen. Wm. Costello Sought Here to Apprise Him of Sad News From Vancouver. Sheriff W. W. Gnge is today mak ing strenuous efforts to locate Wm. Costello who is supposed to bo en gaged in the logging business some where in this locality and who is wanted by relatives at Vancouver, Wash., on account of tho suicide of his father. Tho message to Sheriff Gage ask ed him to do everything possible and incur any needed expense to find Costello as quickly as possible. From tho tenor of the "telegrams, Sheriff Gage believes the case unusually ur gent. Today he Is making inquiries among the logging camps through out the county in hopes of locating Costello and apprising him of the bad news awaiting him. BONDS IN ROSEBURG. Special Klectiou Called to Permit Paving Work. ROSEBURG, Ore., Jan. 21. In accordance with an ordinance passed by tho members of the city council the voters of Roseburg will be given an opportunity to cast their ballot either for or against the proposed $40,000 bond Issue on Saturday, March 5, 1010. Should tho measure meet with favor at tho hands of the voters as anticipated the City of Ro seburg will expend approximately $120,000 in street Improvements during tho coming summer. Of this amount the city will pay one-third, whilo tho property owners benefitted will pay tho remaining two-thirds of the cost.
