Today, between eighty and one hundred Elks of the Oregon Range are participating in a big clam bake at the beach. Joseph Eugene Schil ling declared he couldn't get aw a) but he was taken aboard here, but at North Bend, he succeeded In breaking away and getting back to Marshfleld. At North Bend, the herd headed by the band paraded the streets and "Shangahied" a few of the Antlered ones there, among them C. S. Winsor. The Initiation last evening was all that could be asked for. If you don't believe it, ask "Bill" Lawlor, T. C. Russell, Irving Chandler or any of them, all their names were printed in The Times yesterday. Itiiiuitict Tonight. It is expected many more persons will come in. Dairymen as well as farmers are Interested In "boosting" the Grange. A movement is now on foot to have the next Congress reduce the tax on colored oleo margarine to 1 cent per pound. The National Grange had a hard tight to secure the present tax of ten cents per pound, and it will be the leading organization to fight any reduction of tax. Mr. Walker has gone to Marshfleld and will be there and In tho vicinity to work up a Grange, returning to Coqullle on time for the Thursday meeting, and Saturday will attend tho Grange picnic to bo held In a grove near Norway, where he will be one of the speakers. Mr. Walker has had considerable experience organizing Granges. He has the distinction of having organ ized Banner Grange at Scio, Linn county, with a charter membership of 204, the largest list of any Grange west of the Mississippi river, and the second largest In tho United States.
