It proceeds from a brand new bounc ing baby boy that arrived at the Ayre home yesterday. Mother and child are doing well and George Is as proud as a band master. Drill For OH. Plans are being made to make a complete test of the Indications of oil around Coos Bay. It is stated that if the plans mate rialize, the wells will be drilled to a depth that will definitely deter mine whether or not there is oil here In paying quantities. Court Next Week. Judge Hall will hold the monthly session of county court at Coquille next Tues day, Monday being a legal holiday. The Coos county commissioners will hold their regular quarterly session on Wednesday when road and bridge matters and bills will be taken up. May Retire. Capt. Magee of the tug Columbia, Is said to be seriously considering retiring from active ser vice. He feels that he has served about long enough to be entitled to a few years of quiet and ease. How ever, he Is loathe to give up the Columbia and may postpone action for an Indefinite time. Breaks Auto. Tommy Castle tried to turn the corner from Second street into Curtis avenue yesterday while going nt a fast clip. A rear axle of his car snapped and con siderable damage was done to the machine. He succeeded In repairing it yesterday. That the accident was not worse was a marvel to those who witnessed It. Will Leave Here. J. A. Thomp son, No. 1 member of the Coos Bay Life Saving crew, has resigned and will shortly move to Blodgett, a Bmall town near Corvallls, where ho will ongage In the mercantile busi ness. He has been stationed here soveral years and has been a highly efficient member of the service but was compelled to change his work on account of his health. Perlmm Gets Job. At a special meeting of the city council Monday night, E. 0. Perham of Marshfleld, was awarded the contract, on com petitive bidding, for the construction of a new bridge over Deer Creek, to displace the present wooden struc ture on Jackson street.
