For ests wore turned to sources of liveli hood and out of tho swamps came bountiful harvests. Tho fever 'dis appeared. Tho climate came to bo understood. A land truly dark nnd bloody became n smiling valley. Do spondency drove hundreds away, but hundreds of others who Btayod reap ed rewards In wealth and happiness tho fates are dead against you and you don't know what to do, If the sky Is dark and heavy, that was erstwhile fair and blue, If a lot of friends prove false that you expected to be true, Just smile. If the rain comes down in torrents when you want it to be fine, Just smile. For It won't get any better if you sit around and whine, So smile. It doesn't take much courage to be happy when you win, But the fellow is a hero who will wear a merry grin When he loses, and then get right up and gallantly pitch in And smile. Don't tremble with discomfort every time you see a hearse, But smile. Be thankful you're not In It, which might easily be worse, So smile. July 1, 1909, the present light and fog-signal at this station will be perma nently discontinued, and there will be established, about 1-C mile 155 degrees 20 minutes true (SE 3-32 S mag.) from the present light, A 4th order triple-flashing white Hht; two intervals of 4 seconds, and one of 12 seconds, in the octagonal lan tern on the white octagonal frame tower rising from tho Southerly face of the white, one-story, frame fog signal building recently erected. The light will be 86 feet above the water and should be visible 15 miles in clear weather, between the bearings 35 degrees 00' true (N by E 5-1C E mag.) and 249 degrees 10 minutes true (SW 3-8 W mag.), the observ er's eye 15 feet above the water. On the same date there will be established in the fog-signal build ing a lst-class, automatic, compressed-air siren, to sound during thick or foggy weather, alternate blasts of 5 and3 seconds, separated by alternate silent Intervals of 12 and 40 seconds, thus: Silent Sl'lent Blast. interval.
