USINESS DIRECTORY Of RELIABLE 0USES BUSINESS H Two other bectlons were-later added to the bill, the first being an emergency clause providing that the law should become effective immediately after being -adopted by the Oregon state legislature and being signed by tho governor. The second section added provided that nothing in the new law should in any way infringe upon or eurtail the rights of the Port of Portland which had been organized under a previous net by the legislature. The latter was necessary in order to nrevent Pcrtland people fighting the measure, fearing that the new law, unless specifying otherwise, might enable Astoria to organize a port commission of its own and take in some of the territory now under the jurisdiction of the Port of Portland.
