SAYS LEAGUE WRONGED
SANDBERG IN ACTION
Friends of City Engineer Claim Thnt
He Is Being Condemned For
Acts of (ho City Council.
Friends of City Engineer P. A.
Sandberg are incensed over the ac
tion of the Citizen's League in cen
suring Mr. Sandberg In the way they
did.
"Tho Citizen's League should
havo been fair In its criticism," re
marked a friend of Mr. Sandberg's
today. "Instead of making a broad
statement, lt should havo pointed
out some of the things it found
fault with him for. Mr. Sandberg
probably has made a few mistakes
but he should be given credit for tho
good things he has done. Ho has
been censured much by various citi
zens for street grades and fo'r tho'
trouble over street grades, tho coun
cil Instead of Mr. Sandberg, Is to
blame. Ho went ahead and estab
lished grades that he, as an engin
eer, knew to bo proper. Then somo
of tho property-owners would kiok
to tho city council and the latter
would agree to change lt. Mr. Sand
berg being an employe, had to do
as tho council wished. I am merely
calling attention to this In order tc
secure fair play all around."
