Fail ing in his attempt to induce Govern or Chamberlain not to honor a re quisition for his extradition to Tex as, Rev. Chas. Clark or Summers, as his name may be, returned from Sa lem, in the custody of Sheriff Fcnton, and was locked up In the county jail. During the interview at Salem, Gov ernor Chamberlain Informed the min ister that the letters which he show ed him were satisfactory evidence that his life In Oregon had been above reproach. So unsatisfactory, however, was the explanation of the minister of his previous career in Texas, particularly with reference to the charges against him, that the governor at once informed him that when the requisition arrived from Texas he would have to honor it. The minister accepted his Imprison ment here with bad grace, but he will have to remain in jail until an officer, now en route, arrives, with the necessary papers to take him back to Texas. Rev. Clark will issue a statement to the public soon. PLYMOUTH ROCK CHICKENS. STEWS AND ROAST. AT C1LVS. STAUFF'S GROCERY. TRY A TON of BEAVER niLL NUT COAL $5.50 per ton delivered. Masters & McLaln.
