Tn discussing a division of the Southern Oregon Fair district, the Vedderburn Radium says: ""The fourth district comprises ane, Douglas, Coos and Curry coun ties, but why such a district was 'ever formed is more than any one can explain. There is no community of interest between the valley coun llie and Coos and Curry; there are o transportation facilities, adequate for candying people from the coast to Eugene or Roseburg, or fronWhe (Interior to the coas. when fairs are held and the attendance is in either :caae, purely local. Only the horse- itmen make the trip over the moun tains and the cities which promote fffthe fairs must depend on the conti guous territory lor attendanoo ana not on the country a hundred mile distant and inaccessible in every way fjr the person of average means. Xnti. 'while' these reasons are suffl- nt to Justify two districts, there is "inther whleh Is even more ennvln- v- eing. The products from the valley wcannot exhibit their wares on the 'coast, neither can the man from tho coast travel to the interior and show this products. But Coos and Curry counties should not abandon their claim to (the state patronage accorded the dis trict fairs. They should go to the legislature, and after explaining the situation, ask for a division of the ildlntrict as here outlined, or on lines faimilar. A request for such a divl felon accompanied by a demand for san appropriation as large as that now given tho four counties would Hprobably meet with refusal and It -would be best to ask for a division of Uttho same. Without Information other than that at hand, the Radium annot speak for Curry county, but believes tho citizens would bo lar- Stdy If not unanimously In favor of enc"n nn arrangement, particularly no 2(1 nco Marshfluld hns shown that !,' I an annual fair on the const is In de mand and can bo made n financial ft! For a dear good-night, for a dear good-night, She will wait for me In the even light; For a dear good-night she will neck lace me With her arms of love in a clasp of glee; For a dear good-night she will clasp and cling Till the cares depart and the shadows sing. For a dear good-night she will linger there, Where the hopes are sweet and the dreams are fair; Rose of the roses on cheek and chin. And a little rose smile with the dew drops in. Honey of heartlove and bearer of light, She will wake, she will wait for a dear good-night. For a dear good-night, when the day has been long, And lonely and weary and sad for a song; For a dear good-night when the path way brings For a dear good-night she will leap, she will play, With love In the twilight to fold us away. ANON. Honesty have to. Is being better than you He who does not doubt at all is doubtless damned. It Is always safe the self-satisfied. to be sorry for If you would find folks you must first be yourself. It's not the thing laid on it that makes the life larger. A crooked path Is the stralghtest road to the traps of sin. Every Coos Bay man excuses his Impatience In the conviction that pa tience is purely a feminine trait. ' If people are not good to yon do not complain; It is probably because ' yon are not useful to them. j If a Coos Bay woman finds ont 10 things her husband wa3 keeping from her, she guessed seven of -them. There are so many people in the world of the kind who discover that you have gray hairs coming in your head. When a boy gets too old for his i mother to wash him, his neck and j ears never get a good washing nntil he falls in love. When a Coos Bay man complains about the uncomfortable seats in church, that is one of hi3 jvays of saying that the show isn't good. If your own child "cats np," you call It cntenese; but if somebody's else child performs a few stunts you call it "showing off." There are duties a man owes to himself, but they so often conflict with other people's comfort that they are called selfishness. There are many pitiful sights in the world. One of the most pitiful is to see a distressed mother carry ing her sick baby to a doctor. When people see a man standing on a street corner after dark the women begin to talk of burglars and the men begin to watch to see what woman he is waiting for. It is hard to find a competent Jed? of necessary work, met work bvi ? entirely unnecessary from somebodV viewpoint. Queer how a man's health runs down when his wife is out of town. Most of us would undoubtedly be good spenders if the opportunity and the wherewithal came easily. He Is a mighty clever man who can be smart without showing it Some people Just can't stand it to see a contented person. The 111 thnt we haven't are the easiest Ills In tho world to be borne. There is no flattery that can that of an expectant leneilclary. beat DRAIN HARDWARE STORE ROBBED DRAIN, Ore., Sept. 21. Burglars effected an entrance to the hardware store of W. W. Kent in this city Fri day night by removing a pane of glub3 from a rear door. They took two revolvers, some ammunition and sev eral pocketknlves and razors of prob ably ?30 value. There Is no clew.
