New Empire Teacher Mrs F. E. Taylor has accepted a position as teacher in the Emnlro schools. Mrs. Glen Davis, wife of a member of The Times' force, is quite ill of appendi citis and may have to undergo an operation. School Opens Monday The Marsh flold public schools will open Monday and It is expected that the enrollment will surpass all pievious records. Supt. F. A. Gilky son, superintendent of tho Pacific Telegraph and Telephone Company In Oregon, Is expected here on the Alliance Monday morning to arrange for the transfer of the Coos and Cur ry county lines to tho newly formed Coos Bay Home Telephone Company. Thrown by Horse. Miss King, of San Francisco, who with Miss Edith Simpson, is a guest of Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Simpson, of North Bend, was thrown by her horse while riding yesterday. This is tho second time she has been unmounted by her steeds, but each ttmo has luckily es caped serious injury. Court Next Week. It is not be lieved that Judge Hamilton will com plete this term of circuit court at Co quille until tho latter part of next week. Today, tho case of Wm. MISS BLANCHE CAMPBELL, who, for tho past two years has efficient ly filled a position In J. W. Ben nett's law office, left on yesterday's Plant for Oakland, Cal., where she goes to visit friends and relatives for a few days before her depar ture for Barry, Illinois, where she will make an extended visit to her parents. Miss Campbell has many friends here who will wish her a pleasant stay and a safe return to Coos Bay. FEVER AT MYRTLE POINT. Outbreak of DIseaso Thought to Be 0er. Ellis Hermann, tho 13-ycar-old son of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Hermann, who has suffered the severest attack of any of the scarlet fover patients, has been In a critical condition for more than a week, but latest reports from his bedside indicate that ho Is slowly recovering. Other cases of tho disease except that of Miss Tina Rob erts, who Is now almost completely recovered, have been of a mild char acter. The quarantine Is being re moved from them and no now cases are being reported, which Indicates that tho disease is thoroughly under I control. The Breakwater sailed this after noon for Portland with a largo num ber of passengors and a fair cargo o freight. In the freight cargo was tho first shipment of fish canned at tho Empire cannery this season. The passengers were ready to keep on a sharp lookout In hopes of get ting a glimpse of tho tug Astoria with the dredge In tow. Tho German Baptist Brethren observed their annual love feast in the Myrtle Point church last Satur day and Sunday. The attendance was not largo because of tho scarlet fever outbreak. During tho meotlngB Noah Bonowltz was elected deacon and Howard Michael minister, both being Installed Sunday afternoon. .T. F. Stevens was also advanced to tho second degree of tho ministry.
