The young couple will reside in Marshfield. Wed at Gold Beach. Word has been received here of the marriage of Clarence R. Woodward and Miss Eva Ellen Clarno which was solem nized at Gold Beach, September 11. Mr. Woodward is a brother of Mrs. White of South Marshfield and is well-known here where ho formerly resided. John Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Johnson of Coqullle, was painfully hurt yesterday while working in tho Smith-Powers camp on Cunningham. MISS MARY BLACK, a trained nurse from Marshfield, spent a couple of days in the city Inst week visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Marsters In West Roseburg. Roseburg News. Contractor Rennlo is making progress with Xhe paving of Sheri avenue, one block of which is now completed. It Is expected that this will be completed before the rainy season. The sidewalks on this street, which have formerly been ten feet In width, have been changed to four teen feet, leaving fifty-two feet of roadway to bo planked. This change improves tho general appearance of the street. Mrs. Rose McGrath of Portland, Oregon, has been In North Bend for tho past week, organizing the Royal Neighbors, auxiliary to tho Modern Woodmen. The organization was affected last evening in Loggle's hall. There has already been secured a membership between twenty and thirty. Tho next meeting will he held at the samo place on September 29th, at which time it Is expected that tho membership will materially Increase. Mr. Scotton and his parents resided here many years ago. His mother now resides at Eureka and another brother, Stove Scotton, is connected with the Coqullle Sentinel, A. II. Tenbroolc III. A. B. Ten brook, who is well-known on Coos Bay, Is very ill at his homo In Mer rill, Oregon. Mrs. Tenbrook is a sister of Judge Jno. F. Hall, Jas. T. Hall and Mrs. Patterson. WASHINGTON, Sept. 17. Tho Department of Justice announced that Dr. Henry Love, a special agent of tho General Land Office, assigned to duty In Oregon, had been appoint ed United States Marshal for the Third Division of Alaska, In place of George C. Perry. Form Dancing Club. A new danc ing club was organized last evonlng and will probably be called tho Marshfield Dancing Club, Tho name will bo determined at a meeting to be held next Wednesday evening. SWAYNE and wife, who have been spending considerable time In tho Coos Bay country, will leave tomorrow for their homo In San Francisco. Mr. Swayno Is Identified with the Swayne-Hoyt Lumber and Shipping Company. Peter Logglo, who Is one of the two members from Oregon of the executive committee of tho Trans Mlsslssippl Commercial Congress, to be hold In San Francisco, California, October 6th to 10th, has been ap pointed delegate to tho congress by Governor Chamberlain, and has also been appointed delegate by tho Com mercial tClub of North Bond. Tom Richardson of Portland, tho other member of tho executivo committee from Oregon, has promised to attend tho congress, and the vice-president of tho congress for Oregon, A. H. Devers of Portland, will also be In attendance. Matters of Importance, relative to tho Improvement of Paci fic coast harbors will bo discussed, and without doubt, somo decisive action will bo taken. A rumbr that tho Flflold had gono aground below tho Roguo river on hor last trip down tho coast caused considerable alarm on Coos Bay but so far as can bo ascertained hero, there Is no truth In tho report. No ono has received any message con cerning tho FIfleld being In troublo and tho report Is regarded as purely gossip. The FIfleld Is running tempora rily betweon Bandon and 'Frisco, taking tho place of a sister ship which Is undergoing repairs. New Timber Land to Bo Cut Over This Season. Jack Bester's camp No. 1 of tho Smith-Powers logging operations on Cunningham creek Is about ready to remove a mile or so farther up stream on a tributary of Cunningham where new and untouched timber will bo tapped. Tho railroad extension thoroto Is almost completed, and last Saturday a crew of carpenters headed by W. L. Snidow went out to begin tho erection of bunk houses, cook house, blacksmith shop, etc. Jack Dashnoy's camp No. 2 Is also to move, but later on. It will have Us loca tion a mile to tho east of Bester's now haunts, and tho railroad will bo shoved on to that point also.
