Mlngus yesterday operated on Frank Riebe, who was injured ln tho depot drawbridgo accident a few weeks ago, to ascertain why tho Injury was not healing more rapidly. Ho found that the physicians who had dressed tho wound originally left a small piece of cloth in tho wound and this pre vented tho bones knitting together. W. H. SWAYNE of tho Swayne-Hoyt Company of San Francisco, who has been looking after timber In terests in this section for somo time, came over from Coqulllo to day to spend a fow days on tho Bay. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Russell's seven months old son died about 3 o'clock this morning. Tho little ono has been ailing for somo time from stomach trouble and a complication of ills. Tho many friends will unite In sympathizing with the bereaved parents in tho loss of their only child. The funeral arrangements havo not been made. CHAS. MURR returned tho other day from Lowell, Mass., where she has been spending the summer nt her old homo. Her mother, Mrs. Hildreth accompanied her back and will make an extended stay on tho Bay. WM. An inspector of the internal reve nue department has been in Coos county for several weeks looking Into alleged Irregularities by several per sons in tho liquor business. Whilo ln Myrtle Point ho made a collection of counterfeit money, mostly sllvor 2G and CO cents pieces, which ho took to Portland to turn over to tho fedoral authorities. There hns been considerable complaint about bogus money in Myrtlo Point for somo tlmo and It is bollovod that there is a plant located near that place or around tho Bay. Operation Is Success. Miss Mildred Brown Succumbs CaiuiiH Vulley. Miss Mildred Brown, aged 27, died at the homo of her paronts, Mr. and Mrs, M. L. Brown at Camas Valley, on Friday night, September 4th, from an abscess. Tho funeral was hold at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon, Rov. Mr, Hampton officiating, and inter- mont was ln tho upper cemetery. Besides tho paronts, flvo brothers and two sisters survive.
