Rev. Chas Scadding to Be
Guest of Local Episcopalians
October 4.
Bishop Charles Scadding of the
Episcopal diocese of Western Oregon,
will make hfs annual visit to Marsb-
fleld Sunday, October 4, and will
probably spend a week or more In
this section. Plans for the building'
of an episcopal church at North Bend
and organizing other Episcopal con
gregations in the Coos Bay country
will probably bo submitted to him
during his visit, He will probably
bo the guest of J. W. Bennett, a close
personal friend, during his stay here.
It has not been decided yet wheth
er there will be a confirmation class
for him in Maishfleld this year or
not. A class is being Instructed at
North Bend.
Bishop Scadding recently attended
the international Episcopal conven
tion at London to which Bennett
Swanton of Marshfield, was also a
delegate. He is arranging to
strengthen the denomination in Ore
gon by the organization of many new
congregations.

Is Improving but that he will have
to remain there longer than the
two weeks he originally planned.
His case of inflammatory rheuma
tism appears to be an aggravated
one and he is going to try and se
cure a pernianent cure. Mrs.
Kreitzer and son will probably re
turn next week.

short time. He has ordered his
stock and expects to be ready to open

Salmon Run Starts. Quite a
number of salmon were caught In the
lower bay yesterday, the season run
just starting. It Is expected the run
this year will be heavier than for
sometime although the reopening of
the cannery at Empire is likely to
make a hoavy drain on the fish be
fore the pleasure seeking fisheimen
get a chance at them.
Makes Charges Agninst Goss,
Geo Goodrum Is threatening to In
stitute a charge of attempted larceny
of a fine salmon against John D.
Goss. Mr. Goodrum says he caught
the salmon while trolling In the Bay
Sunday and that Goss who was In a
boat behind his got hold of his
(Goodruro's) line and attempted to
secme the fish but was unsuccessful.
Get Souvenirs From Alaska.
Mrs. Emil Ogren and children have
just received some fine souvenirs
from Mrs, Ogren's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Fox, formerly of Coos Bay but
now residents of Alaska. Many of
tho gifts are jewelry, gold nuggets
being used largely In their makeup.
All are symbolical of tho now gold
fields and are highly prized by the
recipients.
