Thurston returned today from Portland where he accepted a call to the Baptist pulpit in Sellwood, a leading suburb of the Rose City. He will take up his new duties a week from Sunday and move his family to their new home durlngthe coming week. Makes Quick Trip. Tho Wilhel mina established a new record be tween Coos Bay and Bandon yester day. She sailed from North Bend at 8:30 yesterday morning with eighty tons of freight for Bandon and the Coqullle, unloaded there and took on a cargo of ten tons. She reached North Bend at 11:30 last night, mak ing tho round trip In fifteen hours. Creditors Holil Meeting The first meeting of the creditors of Richard Frye, tljp bankrupt proprietor of the Bonbonnlere candy store on 'A' street, was held yesterday In the of fices of Judge C. A. Sholbrede. They ratified Judge Sehlbrede's appoint ment of H. W. Painter as trustee. Mr. Painter Is disposing of the stock In parcels for the benefit of tho credit ors. She was formerly Miss Gibson of Port Orford. JOHN ECKHOFF of Bangor, under went an operation a few days ago for necrosis and a portion of his lower jaw had to bo removed. Ho is getting along as well as could be expected. T. S. DOW of National City, Cal., and a former resident of Coos Bay, is expected here on the M. F. Plant to visit his son, F. S. Dow. Ho ex pects to go east from here on an extended trip. G. A. SAVAGE of Grants Pass, is spending a few days on Coos Bay. He was formerly superintendent of the schools there but Is now en gaged in tho real estate business. He Is an old friend of Geo. N. Bolt. G. L. CARPENTER of Trenton, Mo., is here looking over the Coos Bay country and visiting his uncle, "Captain Edwards of Allegany. Ho and Captain Edwards will make n trip to tho Coqullle valley next week. COUNTY CLERK LENOX of Dou glas county, who distinguished himself in a recent hunting trip, is over from Roseburg to attend the Fair and exchange hunting stories with Coos Bay Nimrods. HENRY HARTH and family, of Roseburg, came in yesterday by auto to attend the Fair. Mr. Harth is the proprietor of the "Harth Toggery," one of the largest mer cantile establishments In Rose burg. While here, they are occu pying the Tom Harvey residence. NORTH BEND NEWS Mrs. Chas. Cavanaugh and children ire spending today at tho Fair. Mrs. W. Peterson of North Inlet, Js visiting relatives in North Bend. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Hayes and daughter, who have spent a few days at Myrtle Point as tho guests of James Hayes will return today to spend the week at the Fair. The schooner Advent came down from Porter and will finish her lum ber cargo at old North Bend. Ed. Mather who has been spending several weeks with relatives down tho coast is expected home soon. The North Bend stores are prepar ing to close so as to give their em ployes a half-day to attend the Fair. Dr. D. C. Vaughan of McMinnvlHo. came in on tho Alliance and is ar ranging to open dental parlors In North Bend. C. A. Nollner, who has been rustic ating for several weeks on the Co qullle, has returned in greatly im proved health. Mrs. Gleason and daughter, who havo been spending tho past two months in North Bend, left yesterday for their homo In Idaho. Capt, A. M. Simpson, after spend ing a few days at North Bond, left yesterday to look after business in terests on tho Columbia. MESSRS. RUTLEDGE and THEILE, tho battery for the Marshfleld base ball team, will leave Friday to re sume their studies at Stanford University.
