Sisters of Slercy Visit Here. The
Sisters of Slercy at Slercy hospital in
North Bend, are entertaining five
Sisters of Slercy from Portland who
are on Coos Bay for a short vacation.
Has Leg Broken. August Hult
gren, a member of the crew of the
lighthouse tender, Heather, had his
leg badly broken yesterday. The
limb was fractured In two places and
the tibia crushed. He is at Slercy
Hospital at North Bend receiving
treatment.

Rlebe who was injured a few days
ago in an accident at the depot draw
bridge Is reported getting along nice
ly at his home in Eastside. Owing to
the fracture of his leg, it will be sev
eral weeks before he can get around.

Jennie Eickworth entertained a
number of young ladies at her home
from 2 to 5 o'clock yesterday after
noon in honor of Sliss Slary Berg
man, the event being a cup and sau
cer shower. A very pleasant time
was enjoyed
AA'nlk Pino Lino Home. Thirteen
Slarshfleld people who attended the
dance at Simpson's Pavilion at North
Bend, last evening, had troubles of
their own coming home, probably on
account of the hoodoo "13." They
left North Bend about midnight and
something went wrong with the
launch. After floating around for
three or four hours, they Anally got
ashore and walked down, reaching
home about 5 o'clock.
Honor Coos Bay Slen. Geo. Teal
of Slarshfleld and Peter Loggie of
North Bend, have been named by
Gov. Chamberlain as tho Oregon
delegates to the Lakes-to-the-Gulf
AVaterway Convention which will be
held In Chicago October 7. An
nouncement of their selection Is con
tained In pres3 dispatches from Sa
lem. Their commissions will be for
warded to them later. Sir. Loggie
has enjoyed similar appointments at
the hands of Gov. Chamberlain In
previous years.

Gets Picture of Dredge. D. Y.
Stafford today received a picture of
the new dredge which is to bo sent
to Coos shortly. The picture was
taken by his brother at Portland and
shows the dredge In working order,
being steamed and gaily painted. It
is expected that the test will be com
pleted and tho dredge ordered to
Coos Bay within a few days. Slajor

The fire alarm was turned In at
Porter about 9:30 o'clock last night.
It was only a brush fire but It waa
quite near Reburg's Powder house.
The dance at the Simpson Pavilion
was handicapped for a short time by
the absence of some of the boys who
answered the alarm.

The City of Coquille received last
week two carloads of six-inch main
piping to be used in tho enlargtng
and extending their system to tho
north side of town. The line will
follow Henry street across the gulch.
Sir. Edward Sillier, secretary ot
the Oregon State railroad commis
sion, and family, passed through
town Slonday en route to Bridge,
where they will spend a few weoka
visiting with Sirs. Sllller's sister, Mrs.
Claude Nosier and family.
H. AV. Dunham who was at tho
throttle on the steamer Liberty last
Slonday sustained a severely bruised
foot while taking on slnbwood fuel
at Prosper. A large piece of wood
from the high dock came down end
wise striking his foot fracturing tho
bones In some of the toes.
E. B. Fish, of Bandon, was In Co
quille on Slonday. He Informed ua
that he had sold his Flshtrap farm
to S. Edwards, also of Bandon. Mr.
Fish and family will soon start out
on an extended camping trip which
will take them through Eastern Ore
gon and Idaho. They will probably
be gone eight months.

in town Saturday on his way homo
from Bandon, having spont a very
successful week there selling town
