It was stated yesterday that some of the properly owners along 'A,' 'B' and 'C streets west of Broadway are getting up a petition to object to the proposed paving of that' section with bitu minous rock. The Marsh field city council will meet tonight to take up a number of street im provement matters. They will also pass on the new ordinance specify ing the kind of uniforms to be worn by the members of the Marshfleld pullce foice and also on the question of raising tho salaries of Night Watchman Condron and Shoup from $73 to $90 per month. MYRTLE POINT POINTERS. Items of Interest Taken From The Enterprise. Rev. S. E. Decker of Ashland, this state, has been visiting his parents and other relatives and friends In Myrtle Point and vicinity. At the late conference of the German Bap tist Brethren, Mr. Decker was given district work covering several states. He will continue to make his home at Ashland, however. Len Hartley, contractor on the road work at Dora, was brought to town Wednesday for surgical help, having suffered a broken jaw. In pulling stumps a stick was used to press down the cable for the sweep to pass, and this stick is what did the mischief. It flew up and hit Mr. Hartley, a stunning blow on the jaw, breaking the right side of It and knocking out three of his teeth. O. E. Marsters Is mourning the death of his dog which he declares was one of the best dogs In the coun try for hunting and herding. Some one poisoned him and he died in the yard at Mr. Marster's homo on Catch ing Creek. ' Mrs. John Felsher returned last week from San Francisco, where she had been visiting with her parents. She brought along a bouncing baby girl who weighed 11 pounds at birth; also her brother, Walter Pohl, came along to spend his vacation. E, O. Carter has bought the D. D. Watson residence property on South Sixth street and has taken possession of the same. Mr. Watson and his family expect to return to eastern Washington where they own property Dr. C. W. Endlcott, a brother of the Myrtle Point dentist, has rented Ofllce rooms at Coquille and will practice dentistry there. His quar ters will be In the old O. K.'creamery building which has been moved to Front street, and remodeled. Ed. Allen, formerly engaged in the cattlo business here, but lately In the livery business at Portland, has sold out In the Oregon metropolis and Is here renewing old acquaintances and looking over the country. He may decide to locate here again. Mrs. J. Hendricks and Mrs. Amber, who have been guests at tho J. R. Benson homo for several weeks, left yesterday morning by private convey ance for Rosohurg. On their way homo to Philadelphia they will visit at Chicago and In Indiana, expecting to reach homo by tho first of Sep tember. George Bryant has tho contract for hauling tho lumber that has been stacked up at tho foot of Maple stieet for a year, to tho homo of Thos. Hayes of Rural who expects to build a fine residence on his ranch. MR. and MRS. BEN O'KELLY ar rived from Grants Pass via Port land on the Alliance, and will make quite a stay here. MR. and MRS. JOHN PREUSS re turned last evening from Bullardi where they have enjoyed a week's outing on their ranch. E. D. SPERRY and wife, of Coquille, who have been spending several days with friends here and at Empire leave today for their home. MISS FLORENCE HEAVERN of Vancouver who has been visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. The workmen on the sewer con struction are having a great deal ot difficulty as they have to go dowa twenty-seven feet on Sherman ave nue, as that part of the street la so much higher than the other streets. They are tunneling part oC the work. Lee Ackerman of Portland ami Miss Myftle Parker of North Bend, were quietly married at tho homo ot the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Parker, here. The event was a surprise to friends here and tho news of the marriage has just leaked out although the event was solemnized July 28.
