Manager Fred Johnson of the North Dend baseball team announces thai he has secured McFarland of Los Angeles to add to North Bend's pitch ing stnft for the remainder of the season. McFarland Is expected hero within a day or two aid probably will bo In the game against CoquIIle Sunday. Negotiations have been on with McFarland for sometime. Mc Farland established quite a record by shutting out the Portland team early In the season. North Bond Is reorganizing the team and will pres ent a new llnoup Sunday. Kelly who has been playing third base on the North Bend baseball team has moved to Marshfield, having socured a position hero. This will probably result In his Joining the Marshfield baseball team. Ho has been one of the best players on the North Bend aggregation. Doyle and Ben Cooper and Mr. Noyes secured four fine bucks, Tom Hall killing ne, Doyle- two and Noyes one. Messrs. Doyle, Noyes and Cooper re main to smoke the venison and will bring It in a day or two. Bucks are hard to find now, according to Mr. Hall. He says that their horns are still in the velvet and until about August 1, they will keep in the brush practically all the time. The does are quite tame, the law prohibiting hunters shooting at them. When the White Star line Oceanic arrives, Miss Gertrude Wearn of Southampton, England, one of its passengers, was met by A. H. Griscourt, a Boer war trooper, her fiance. The pair had been separated for half a dozen years. Griscourt had sent Miss Wearn a ring that was to be the token by which he would recognize her, for she had grown to woman hood since ho Baw her last. She was wooed and won by Griscourt when ho was with his regiment en route to South Africa. After the war was over he went to a ranch at Pino Cliff, Colo.
