The deceased visited Mrs. Olson last November and was formerly employ ed by the Union Iron Works. Complain About Sprinkler. Sev eral people have entered protests during the laBt few days concerning the carelessness of tho driver of tho sprinkler wagon in turning the water so as to "soak" pedestrians. Yes terday, a number who happoned to bo on Front street, near 'B' street, became highly incensed when Mrs, J. L. Durand and daughter were "soaked" and threats were made of having tho driver arrested for his carelessness. Marshal J. Tho Portland Oro gonian of Wednesday says: "Tho steamer Brenkwator has been order ed into drydock Immediately for ex. tensive ropalrs, and will probably bo out of commission for n month or more. GUS GULOVSON of South Marshfield, has returned from Portland where sho has spent con siderable time with her daughter, Miss Edith, who has been 111. The latter Is slowly recovering but was still too weak to be brought home. THE REV. FATHER E. DONNELLY who Is attending tho anniversary coremonies of the Archbishop of tho Oregon Archdiocese in Port land, writes that ho will not bo ablo to return to Coos Bay for another weok. F. P. Gale Tlmmerman of Marshfield, is spending a few days at tho home of his grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Bargee of North Bend. Mrs. E. E. Riggs and Miss Annie Jacobson of North Bend, are suffer ing from severe attack , of tho mumps. Mrs. Charles Worrell of North Bend, and Mrs. Edward Fahey of Billiards were Marshfield visitors this week. Tho North Bend mill Is now cut ting somo high grade timber for tho government. High grado material is required, necessitating extra caution in selecting tho logs. The Swedish people of North Bend, and vicinity hold a picnic and cele bration at tho Simpson Park pavilion which was largely attonded. Tho usual picnic pleasures were enjoyed by a largo number. Miss Blanche Klrkpatrick, who taught In the North Bend schools last year has written from Salem, where sho Is spondlng her vacation, that she does not expect to return here next year.
