Owing toi the increased supply of new potatoes on tho local market, tho price has dropped from four to threo conts per pound. The outlook is for a good crop in this section Enterprise In. The Enterprise came in from Rogue river yesterday. The crew report that salmon fishing on Rogue river has been very poor this year and that R. D. Humo does not expect to realize enough out of It to pay expenses. Caught Big Trout. Mrs. A. E. Seaman telephoned in from their summer homo last evening that she had just landed one of tho largest trout that has been taken from the North Coos this season. She caught it near their homo, just above the hatchery. The trout was about twenty-one inches long. Eagles Aro Busy C. C. Going, C. A. Howard and Hugh McLaln of tho local aerie of Eagles are busy com pleting plans for tho proposed club house and homo which tho organiza tion will build on Sheridan street and also preparing for a Fourth of July celebration or picnic which tho mem bers will enjoy at Ten Mile. Entertains Friends. Prof. Ray mond entertained a few friends at a "Dutch Lunch" at his apartments Sunday, a very enjoyablo afternoon and evening being spent. Among tho guests were Messrs. Archer, Har ry Cohen, Vill Lynch, Jack Mlllett, Earl Murnahan, Ray Mercer, Vinco Loren and Robert Dillard. To Buy School Site. Tho now di rectors of District No. 85, consisting of Bunker Hill and Bay Park addi tions, are negotiating with tho Fla nagan estate for tho purchase of a small tract between tho two addi tions as a site for tho proposed new school. They have not decided yet how much money will bo spent on the school. Former Coos Bay Man. Roy Mc- Ewan, a brief account of whose death appeared in The Times recent ly, was a former Coos Bay young man, ho having been born and raised hero. McEwan whq was fol lowing tho sea died at Honolulu. His mother, now tho wife of Dr. D. E. Biggs of Belllngham, Wash., visited hero a few years ago. Tho family is well-known to all of tho older resi dents. Ray Kaufman On Vacation. Ray Kaufman returned today from a trip to his timber claim near Rosobux'g. He has spending part of his vaca tion there, threo or four friends from Spokane who havo timber claims near his being with him. They saw considerable wild game, running across a big bear ono day. All had revolvers and shot at bruin with them but were unablo to produce any effect. Mr. Kaufman went to Bandon today for a day or two and will roturn to resumo his duties at tho First National tho latter part of tho week. Expects Man' Visitors. Tho Ore gon & California Coast Steamship Company's liner Alliance brought a full cargo of freight, consisting prin cipally of sashos and doors and othorbullding materials from Marsh flold and North Bond mills. KERNS of Grand Junction, Colo., is in Marshfield on business Mr. Kerns is a mining engineer and is looking over the water proposition of Coos county. R. W. CHAPMAN of Coquille, man ager of tho baseball team there, left here today for Portland and other northern points. Beforo leaving, he Is said to have con fided to friends that he would re turn with a bride. A host of friends will be surprised but will unite in congratulations. MISS MYRTLE DOWNER, who has lived with her aunt and undo B. A. May nnd wife, and has attended High School In Marshfield for tho past two years, left on the steamer Alliance for her home in Condon, Ore., where her parents reside. She carried with her a gorgeous bouquet of Coos Bay roses, the gift of Mrs. Hirst, Mrs. Rlggs and Mrs. Maxton. GEORGE McCUTCHEON, who was called to his homo In Carlton, Yamhill county, a few days ago by a telegram announcing that his father was critically 111 writes that tho old gentleman died a few hours after he got there. Mr. Mc Cutcheon, Sr., was still able to recognize him. It will probably bo sometime before he is able to re turn to Coos Bay. EDITOR ORIPPEN of tho Coqulllo Sentinel returned to Coquille this morning after spending a day here. Mr. Crlppen says that everything Is prospering in Co quille, many new buildings being ' underway there. It is expected that the Fourth of July celebra tion in Coqulllo be the greatest success, tho attendance promising to far surpass that of previous celebrations in the valley. towns, and says that tho merchants there expect a larger influx of sum mer visitors than ever before. Dur rett. Some street matters will also bo considered, probably. Fish Is Disabled. Tho launch Fish had troublo of its own in cross ing in over tho bar Saturday. Tho bar was unusually rough and some thing went wrong with the Fish's rudder compiling her to give up her tow. After considerable difficulty, she succeeded in crossing in alone. In consequence of tho accident,) a party who had arranged for a fishing trip to the halibut bank off the coast yesterday had to postpone tho trip. C Avenue Property Owners Meet.
