Sell Courtney Mill. Sheriff Gago
haB Issued notice that tho Courtney
Lumber mill will bo sold at auction
at the courthouse in Coquille Sat
urday, June 20, to satisfy tho
claims of creditors. There Is about
ten acres In the mill site In addition
to right of way for water mains and
a railway track.
Buys Hume's Horse. It Is an
nounced that William Walker has
purchased Marwood, R, D. Hume's j
promising galloper. Marwood was
entered by In tho selling race at
'Frisco and won, It was understood
that it was Mr, Hume's Intention to
buy him but ho was absont and by
a fluko Mr. Walker Is said to havo
got tho animal,
Wheeler is Better. Edgar L.
Wheeler, who has been east for sev
eral months, returned lately and
has gone to Bandon where ho will
visit his father, T. B. Wheeler, of
that city. He has almost entirely
recovered from the Injuries received
in a runaway accident while in Ar
kansas. Mrs. Wheeler who was so
fortunate as to escape unhurt re
turned several weeks ago.
Eagles Buy Site. The local Aerlo
of Eagles have purchased a lot 75x
140 on tho east side ot Sheridan,
street, between California and Ore
gon streets from Wm. Holland for
$1,800 as a site for their proposed
home. Some of the preliminary
work for building, including the In
corporation of building company,
has already been perfected.
Locates nt Bandon. L. C. Durkeo
who was engaged in the contracting
and building business in Marshfield
for some time but who recently gavo
up his business here to go on tho
road has decided that he doesn t
like traveling and has located at
Bandon. In a letter to Tho Times,
he extends thanks to friends hero
for tho courtesies shown him and
says that he will always be a Cooa
Bay booster.
Takes Fourth Degree. Tho
local Aerie of Eagles conferred tho
fourth degree on Harry Adler Wed
nesday evening. There Is no fourth
degree in tho regular ritual of tho
order but tho local members de
cided that they had to arrange ono
to show their appreciation of Adler.
If there was anything that they
forgot to inculcate in tho degree,
Adler hasn't been able to remember
it.
Fruit Men Coming. Dr. M. O.
Pohl, fruit inspector for Coa'
county, Is at Myrtle Point but la
planning to come to Marshfield and
North Bend soon to arrango for pub
lic meetings for tho president and
district director of the Oregon Hor
ticultural society when they visit
hero Juno 12. Dr. Pohl wishes
evory one to attend this meeting, es
pecially those Interested In fruit
culture. In addition to these, ho Ijp
lleves that everyone interested In.
Coos Bay will be Interested In tho
mooting as tho development of tho
fruit culturo In this section will bo
one of tho greatest factors In devel
oping tho country.
