Bret McCullough of tho Crystal Theatre, is suffering from a severe sprain of his wrist, tho result of a fall while enjoying an outing on Coos river. Tho injury while painful is not serious. Race Meeting in July F. P. Nor ton and other local horsemen have practically decided to hold a race meeting here In July, probably the third and fourth. A meeting of tho horsemen will held in a day or two to arrange for the event. To Organize Lodge. The lumber men in and around Coos Bay aro dis cussing the advisability of organiz ing a Hoo Hoo Lodge here. A largo number have signified their desire to join, and it is likely that a branch of tho lumbermen's national frater nal and social organization will bo shortly started here. Smith mill spent Sunday at Ten Mile and se cured a fine string of trout. CAPT. A. M. SIMPSON of North Bend, who has been spending sev eral months in California returned tills morning on the M. F. Plant. JUDGE C. A. SEHLBREDE will leave early next week for Chi cago where he goes as a delegate from Oregon to the National Re publican Convention. MRS. C. A. SEHLBREDE has writ ten that she has taken steamer from Alaska for Seattle and will reach here In about two weeks. She will visit a short time in Seat tle before coming to Coos Bay. OTTO SCHETTER and Harry Skin ner returned this morning from a few days outing at Ten Mile. They had eighty-seven fine trout to show as evidence of their ability as anglers. AV. C. CHASE, T. A. Walker and Ben McMullen came over from Co quille today on business. Mr. Chaso Is now closing his campaign for state senator from Coos and Curry counties on the Republican ticket. T. J. LEAVIS has returned from Ten Milo where ho spent Sunday. Ho says that ho wasn't informed that tho plans for a big fourth of July celebration there had been called off and tho does not place any, credence in tho report. A MEREEN, general superintendent of the C. A. Smith Lumber and. Manufacturing Company, returned, today from a four weeks stay at the company distributing yards at Bay Point, on San Francisco Bay, California. He reports rapid pro gress on the company's buildings and plant at that place. HARRY ADLER, the well-known. San Francisco traveling man, ar rived in Marshfield today to call on his trade in tho Coos Bay coun try. This Is his first visit hero since tho erroneous report of his death at Denver was circulated and his friends are congratulating him on being such a lively corpse. Defective wires caused a small blaze in Rob ert Marsden's building on Front street this morning. Tho building was formerly occupied by tho Mol roso restaurant, the second floor be ing occupied as living rooms by AV. P. Smith and family. Somehow tho wires where tho Insulation was faulty camo In contact with tho bedding and started tho blaze. Mr. Marsdon happened to bo near and discovered the firo in tho nick of time. The now mlno Is about eight miles from North Bend and is said to bo a very promising producer of a high grade of coal. Mrs. N. E. Anderson and two chil dren of Bay City will leave on tho Alliance Tuesday for Prlnco Rupert, British Columbia where sho will on gago In tho hotol business. Sho will visit at several cities on routo north. Miss Louis Johnson of Broadway, celebrated her oleventh birthday Saturday. Ten of her school mates aided her in tho celebration of tho event.
