Miller of Marshfield, was in Co quille Tuesday on business. Mr. Mil ler has purchased the bankrupt stock of groceries of the Russel Bros., at North Bend. Coquille Sentinel. Lawyers to Coquille. Nearly every Coos Bay lawyer went to Co quille Friday morning to be present at the opening of Circuit Court by Judge Hamilton. Basebnll Meeting. It is likely that Manager Charles Howard of the Marshfield baseball team and Man ager A. Whlsnant of the North Bend team, will go to Coquille tomorrow or Sunday at attend a meeting of the baseball managers to arrange a sche dule for the season. Small Steamer Snagged. The steamer plying on the Coquille be tween Bandon and Coquille, was snagged Thursday night, and is now out of commission. A large hole was torn in the bottom but she suc ceeded in running ashore before she filled with water. The Favorite has been undergoing repairs and had it not been for the timely arrival of the Wolverine, transportation on the Coquille would have been tied up. New Store to Open. George Rotner, the former Coos Bay young man who is to manage J. L. Bow man's new store here, arrived in Marshfield yesterday, and Is arrang ing for the opening which will be about May 1st. The store will oc cupy quarters in tho new Coos building and will be called tho Coos Bay Store. Men's clothing and fur nishings will be handled. Mr. Rot ner Is being warmly welcomed back by his old friends and acquaintances. Lease Baseball Grounds. Man ager Charles Howard closed a leaso today for tho Marshfield baseball park for five months. He has called a meeting of the fans to be held Monday night in the city hall and hopes to have a good turnout so that tho season can bo btarted in good shape. SMITH of Eugene, a pioneer dentist of Marshfield, arrived here yesterday to visit friends and re latives and to look after property Interests. NUMBER of the office employes of the C. A. Smith mill are preparing for an enjoyable outing up Coos River Sunday, the Mabel H. being engaged for the trip. MRS. A. W. RHINEHART, sister of Mrs. C. H. Marsh, has returned from Southern California whero she has been spending the winter and will spend considerable time visiting In Marshfield. . C. W. BERRY, a prominent rail road contractor of Portland, pass ed through Marshfield en route to Coquille where ho will look after business interests. Whether Wt visit has any connection with thci proposed Drain-Coos Bay railroad could not be ascertained today. MRS A. O'KELLY, wife of Captain J. O'Kelly has returned from Southern California where she has been visiting relatives and friends. She spent some time at Paso Robles whero she had the pleasuro of meeting Rear Admiral Evans of the Atlantic fleet who is now so journing there for the benefit of his health. JUDGE WATKINS of Portland, camo to Coos Bay yesterday to look after business Interests and to vis it relatives in this section. Ho states that everything Is prosper ous at Portland. He was pleased at tho growth of Marshflekl, for which there is still a warm spot in his heart even if ho did uoo away from hero several years nfo. WORKMAN FALLS AND IS BADLY INJURED. .Tames Bhulsoe Sustains Broken Col lar Bone and Other Injuries nt Railway Dock. James Bludsoo, a Marshfield long shoreman, was badly injured as a result of a fall whilo engaged in load ing tho steamer Esther Buhne, with lumber, at tho railroad dock. Ho slipped and fell, striking on his head and shoulder. He was taken to Mercy hospital where It was found that ho had sus tained a broken collar bone, a severe scalp wound and some bad bruises.
