Her many friends here are hop ing for her speedy recovery. Takes Charge of Brick Plant. M. P. Castle and son Tom Castle were visitors in Marshfield yesterday. Mr. Castle has taken charge of the "Tay lor SigHn" brick yard on Isthmus Inlet. They turned out the first brick ,asb Saturday and report It an excel lent quality. FRED. T. SHERWOOD and daughter, Clare of Coquille, returned to their home in thai city after a few daysi visit on Coos Bay with relatives." The first shipment of new potatoes this season reached North Bend on the M. F. Plant from San Francisco. They retail at six cents per pound and consequently are quite a luxury. tOMWHM Mrs. A. J. Sherwood and daugh ter, Miss Clare, have returned home to Coquille after visiting friends hero and attending tho Nelson-Rogers wedding. Letters received from Mrs. Georgo Morris say that she, her husband and the children, Madge, Lillian and Rus sel, are doing nicely at Oakland, Cal. They formerly resided on Coos Bay and have a host of friends here. Mr. and Mrs. H. Selvog and chil dren, Edla, Oliver and Harvey, of Eastslde, have started for their old home in Carwood, Minn., where they expect to remain. During their resi dence here, they made many friends who will greatly regret their departure. JAS. LTJDGWIG and family of the Eastslde, moved to Marshfield yes terday. Mr. Ludgwig having ac cepted employment in this city. MISS HELEN LAUDRETH has again resumed teaching in the Public school after an absence of several weeks caused on account of sickness. A. DANIELS is on Coos Bay for a short time attending to business transactions and incidentally vis iting with relatives for a short time. May Divide District. County Superintendent W. H. Bunch, has re ceived a petition from tho residents of School District No. 9, asking that the district be divided and made into two districts, the part lying east of coal bank slough being made a sep arate district. Buch is in Marshfield today to attend the first number of tho teachers' lecture course. He says that the prospects are good for tho course, throughout tho county and he expects that the teachers, pupils and patrons will In sist that it bo made a permanent thing. SUMNER and wife of Bandon, arrived In Marshfield on tho noon train yesterday, and will remain for some time as the guests of relatives. MRS. MORTON of Libby passed thru Marshfield yesterday on her way to Libby, after having visited in North Bend for a few days as tho guest of relatives. MISS JOTTIE WATSON of Coquille, arrived in Marshfield yesterday, on her way to Coos City where she will remain for a short time with relatives. Later Miss Watson will visit friends in Marshfield. B. PIERCE, tho representative of tho Pacific Coast Syrup Company, is in Marshfield for a few days at tending to business affairs. After leaving here Mr. Pierce will visit Coquille and the river towns. Bates, formerly of this city, is making arrangements to start a steam laundry in Bandon. Tho build ing Is already under construction, and it is expected that the plant will be in working order by the middle of May. Circuit court convenes April 2Gth, with a heavy docket before It. Tho probabilities are that the grand jury will havo all it can do. Tho Coquille River Transportation Company have changed their plans and have ordered a new engine and boilers for their now boat which they are building. It Is expected that it Will be ready to launch in about three months.
