One of the finest horses ever brought to Coos Bay was brought on the Alliance from Port land. The stallion was consigned to Herman Schmitt. Builds in Plat B. Mr. Harris is having four lots cleared at the cor ner of Lombard and Sutherland streets In Plat B and expects to erect a residence on two of them this summer. Not Peter Loggi The P. Loggl who left Coos Bay on the M. F. Plant was not Peter Loggle, the well-known North Bend business man. The sim ilarity of the names was confusing and caused some bother. A Successful Dance. Tho dance at Sumner Saturday evening proved a very enjoyable and successful so cial event. There was a good at tendance and the music furnished by tho Langenberg orchestra was all that could bo desired. Lodges May Picnic. Tho Im proved Order of Redmen and tho Degree of Pocahontas are planning to arrange a joint picnic and excur sion party to be held sometime dur ing April. No details have been completed nnd location has not been decided upon. Mrs. Bargelt Home. Mrs. E. S. Bargelt returned today on tho Al liance from Portland where sho has been 111 for sometime. Whllo not entirely over the effects of her Ill ness, she Is much improved. Her return and Improved condition will bo n source of gratification to tho many friends of tho family. Will Locate Here. C. C. Gango of Chicago, 111., arrived in Marsh field yesterday and will remain for two weeks on Coos Bay making an Investigation of this section. Later on Mr. Gauge will go to Bandon and see tho resources in that vicinity. It is probable that ho will locate In either Marshfield or Bandon, as both towns offer excellent opportunities. Rush Work on Ferry. Tho now ferry boat which will ply across tho Bay to tho east sldo of the Bay is being rushed and it Is hoped to have it ready for operation within a short time. With the approach of nico weather, thero Is much demand for It, especially from visitors to the Bay who want to get on tho other sldo and inspect tho entire section. Fix Fire Regulations. A commlt teo of tho Marshfield Fire Depart ment and the fire committee of tho city council will meet Wednesday night to roviso the flro ordinance and tho by-laws of tho Flro Department so that they will not conflict. Tho meeting was arranged by Secretary Traver of the Department and Chair man Savage of tho Fire Committee. Entertains Ministers. A minis terial meeting was held in North Bend yesterday afternoon at tho resldenco of Captain Schmohl, after tho business affairs were transacted a delicious luncheon was served. Those present were: Rev. D. W. Thurston, Rev. H. H. Brown, Rev. W. R. F. Browne, Rev. Lacoy, Rev. J. E. Burkhart and Rev R. G. Sum merlln. Xcw Fishing Ground. Messrs. Booth, Kennedy, La Chance, Jack Kanagan and several others have re turned from a few days fishing on tho upper Coqulllo, a new ground for this section. LANE passed thru Marshfield Saturday on his way to his homo in Myrtle Point, after having been absent for several months during which ho was In a sanitarium In San Jose, Cal., receiving medical treatment. Mr. Lane returns greatly Improved In health. D. B. ROSSEN of Minneapolis, loft Marshficld yesterday for his homo in tho East after having been hero for about two weeks. It Is Mr. itossen's intention to return to Marshfield In the near futuro and make this his permanent home. Mrs. Rosson and daughter Bea trice will accompany him on his return trip. D. B. UPPER of Portland, Ore., ar rived in Marshfield yesterday and left this morning for Coqulllo whero ho will remain indefinitely attending to business affairs and also visiting with relatives. Tho bill at tho Crystal this week Is an all around favorite. The film "Cairo to Khar toum" Is a flno reproduction of Egyptian life. It shows the many strango types of peoplo along tho Nile, their manners and customs, and the strange surroundings of their lives. "Tho Dervish's Revenge" kept tho houso In a continual laugh. Tho big song hit Is "Under tho Troplcnl Moon," sung by Demarls Gabbert, which was received with hearty ap plause. Put on Probation. Ray Wittlck, tho Allegany lad charged with wrong doing at tho Allegany public ware house, was taken boforo the county court at Coqullle. Deputy prosecut ing attorney outlined tho misdemea nors charged but tho boy and his parents proved that ho did not break into tho warehouse, the building having been left open. Ho pleaded guilty to damaging some of the con tents. It was finally arranged to placo tho lad on six months proba tion instead of sending him direct to tho reform school. Ladies Entertain.
