state dairy inspector, came down
from her ranch on Coos River, to
attend to some of her official dut
ies. MRS. HERBERT ROGERS and
daughter Miss Mildred, wore in
Marshfield from their, 'homo on
Coos River to do some spring

J. H. IIEARDE, who staged tho Eag
le minstrel show, left this morning
on the Alliance. Mr. Heardo' ex
pects to return about May to open
up a moving picture and vaude
ville house.
CAPTAIN L. MASTERS, of tho
launch Curlew, who has been laid
up at his homo in Sumner with tho
la grippe, Is improving and will
shortly bo able to attond his to
his duties.
MR. AND MRS. C. C. GOING, well
known Marshfield residents, de
parted on tho Alliance for a short
recreation trip. During his stay in
Portland Mr. Going expects to do
considerable buying for tho spring
nnd summer trade for tho Arm of
Going & Harvey.
Convalescent. Charlie Leo's
many friends will bo glad to know
ho is out again after a brief but
distressing illness.

birthday, the Ladies Aid of the Pres

sons is planning a unique advertising
scheme which Is to bo pulled oft in

to surprise the people and as tho re

New Drug Store; Donald E. Mc
Crary, who has for some years been
connected with the Everltt Pharm
acy of North Bend, but who will open
up a drug store in Marshfield, In a
part of tho room formerly occupied
by Gulovson Brother's furniture
store, will not be able to begin tho
work of stocking up the store for a
few days. Thero is still somo work
to bo done by the carpenters beforo
tho room can be turned over.

Bond public school Is now demon
strating Its militant spirit In other
channels than that of study. Two
basketball teams havo beon organized
among tho girls and tho members aro
devoting themselves assiduously ta

organize but ono team, which would

school, nnd then meet Marshfield.
Marshfield, however, refused to pick
up tho challongo when it was offered
and so tho school girls of North Bend
