HOOKS IN THK HOME.
Written for Tho Times.
Wo enjoy Intercourse with superior
aniiids through books, and tho valua
ble means of communication are In
Teach of all. In the best books great
Kami talk to us, glvo us their most
precious thoughts, and pour their
souls Into ours; God bo thanked for
books. They aro tho voices of the
distant and tho dead, and make us
Beird of the spiritual life of past
p asos. They give to all who will
Saithfully use them, tho society, the
api'Ludl presence of tho best and
greatest of our race. How deslrablo
then that everyone should, have a
taslo for good reading. Heading not

pletwntly many hours and days when
if he did not have tho reading habit
Jse would be ldlo and lonesome and
perhaps In mischlof. A taste for
rending must be acquired in youth.
If you do not learn to enjoy reading
books and periodicals in your youth
It la doubtful if you ever will bo
much of a reader. Hero Is a thought
for mothers abo,ut tho importance of
plarlnK interesting reading continu

GOOD EVENING

Forenoon, and afternoon and

And afternoon and night, fore-

The empty song repeats itself.
No more,
V Yea, this 13 life; make this foie-

' This afternoon a psalm, this
O night a prayer,
And time is conquered, and thy
O crown is won.
