Mr. and Mrs. V red Missal nnd Mrs. N. Si. Jenning returned Inst Sunday even ing from it visit of several months in fort land. Mrs. Jennings, who wns quite ill when she went to Portland, was greatly benefited by the trip and returned in much belter health. Mrs, Howard Turner has purchased of Frank Osborn the lot on Main street upon which the barber shop is situated. Mrs. Turner ftlrendy owned the two cor ner lots, with the exception of this small lot, 32x.jo feet, which she purchased in order to keep (he corner property intact. The consideration was $850. C. M. Redfield, chief engineer of the D, I . & V. Co., nnd who has general sup ervision' over (he Central Oregon railroad survey now In progress, was in town yes terday. He says that it will require about 60 days to complete the piclimiua rics nnd make n location of the line, and is quite confident that b' that time the plans will have matured so that actual construction of the road can begin. The principal object in view, he says, is to get quick relief for this section from its pres ent transportation troubles, and if the people in this county will come to the support of the project, there is nothing to prevent the road being built in, in time to haul out next season's crop.
