Uevinncy, who has been in Madras the past two weeks organizing a local lodge of A. p. U. W., left Tucs day afternoon for Richmond in Wheeler county. Mrs. Kugene Fickcl of Portland, is visiting her aunt, Miss Delia Sweeting, in Madras today. Mrs, Fickel is on her to Laidjaw (0 vjsit her father, Mr. I. I-:. Dayton. Jim Hrown of Tygh, was in town last Friday on ht way to l'rineville to attend the Spring inrc meeting. He had with him a fleet footed racer with which he expects to take down sonic of the purses hung by the l'rineville Jockey Club. IJ. II. Putnam anil his brother, I). II. Putnam, left Tuesday for McMinnvillr, where they expect to spend the coming Summer. The former recently proved up on his homestead near Opal Springs. He and his brother will drive through to The Dalles, where they expect to sell several head of horses which they are taking with them. Douglas Hood has been subpoenaed as a witness in a civil case pending in the federal couit, and left last night for Port land. The cae h one involving some lumber sold here several years ago, which was alleged to have been unlawfully cut off of government land, the case being known as the Archie Mason case.
