Fun ernl services were conducted at the grave Tuesday by Minuter Hovcn of the Christian church, i'he J.irman home remains timber quarantine rcstiictions, nl though there arc no new cases there, Athena item in liast Orcgonian. James Mhgncss has rented the lower lloor of the to wnsite building, nnd he and his family will occupy it for the present as residence, until ihey can secure other quarters. Dwelling liouies arc scarce in Madras, and from the number of persons desiring to rent houses here, It would ap peal that the building of small houses to rent offers a good field for investment al this place. Died, Tuesday evening, February ll, 1908, Everett, the infant son of Mr. and .Mrs. Lee Peck, at their home on Opal o i. 1 1 .. name, r iiucrai services were fieici thifc Thursday) morning at the Opal Prairie church at 10 o'clock, and the burial was held at Grey Huttc Cemetery. I 'S IKK 1 thrived during the Winter, although the) usually detitc to feed their sheep during portion of the Winter, and the prrciii open and wet Winter has not been the best kind of feeding weather. Sheep can be fed hay much more satisfactorily when the ground is frozen and there is some snow. The company had plenty of hay on hand this year, and the indications foi another big crop next year are the best. ' William. Corner left Monday for Med lord, where he expects to spend two weeks or more looking over the country, with a view of possibly making a small investment in land in that section, if he decides to invest, .Mr. Comer will prob ably buy unimproved fruit lauds, as that section is coming to the front as one of the best ft nil sections of the slate. On the morning Mr. Comer lr.lt here, he received a ltttcr from friends-at Mtdford, stating that his son Henry, who went to that place several weeks ago, had been quite il for some days and was still con fined to his bed. Some of the freighters from this section who got caught on the road out from Shunikn alter the snow and rain of last wc;(k, are repotted to have had a rough tup. . One freighter got on a soft piece ol road coming down Cow Cnnyon, and when his wagon began slipping over the grade, had to cut the harness to save his horsci. Others repqtt a hard dip, and none of them express a desire to try it again until the roads are better. After the long dry spell the roads got 111 fairly good shape, and this tempted many ol them to begin hauling out grain, of which here is Mill much to be marketed. The recent rain and snow will make anntl er lostpoiiemciit necessary, however. Agents for B. & H.
