Mrs. Pullet is a niece of Mrs, S. Ji Gray and Mrs. J. C. Way mire, whom they ate visiting. . Only about forty voters have so far rqiisftired in thfs precinct, which is a very poor ihowini;, considering the number of voters in the precinct. Keclttrntion books nre open at the office of Jude Brooks, nud nil voters of the precinct mc urgad to register. Dr. C. A. Cllnc bold something more than n section ot timber land on Willow Creek the first of the week to G. M. Cornell, the consideration being $5500. This land is situated near the Cornell itflKtt station and will be used as a horse pasttuc. Crook County Journal. Dr. W. S. Nicbol, formcily of llcnd, but now located at Hood River, was in town Tuesday evening on his way to Mend to look after some business inleiests at that place. I Jr. Nicliol says that the committee In dcirgc of the new county movement at Mood River were successful in securing the requited 7500 signers to the initiative petition and t hat they have high hopes of being granted a new county at the direct hands of the voters of the state at the coming June election. The forestry department, through Sup ervisor Guy M. Ingram, has gr.iutcd'ltcv. C, .Short of this place a permit to go upon the reserve Jind cut 40,000 feet of logs for lumber for the new proposed Baptist chuich building at this place. Since the permit was granted the youiig men around here are signing up a paper saying they would cut the trees and saw them into logs. Another paper is in circulation asking people to subscribe what cash they feel able to. From the present outlook, Nilver Lake will erect this coming Sum mer one of the finest church buildings in the county Silver Lake Leader. Duncan Clusholm, a prominent sheep man torn Kent, was in town last Monday evening oil his way to I'rineville, to look after his allotment of range iu the Blue Mountains. Mr. Clusholm has not been in this section for twelve years, and he expressed great surprise at the many changes that have occurred duribg that tunc. In those days sheepmen herded their docks through this section, on their way to the Summer range in 1 he Cascade Mountains, and the old Mud Springs near (he north cud of the plains was a favorite camping place. Practically all of the set tlement in the Agency Plains country has occurred in the past nix years, during which period whole townships have been j filed upon by sctllcis, and this Country has brconic a thickly populated farming district. Where M.ulras stands no.v was only a sheep camp prior to six years ago, and people who, like Mr. Clusholm, knew the county hereabout ten or twelve years ago, arc always surprised at the rapid settlement and development that has taken place. r t t AGENTS FOR B. & H.
