Will Harder of Culver was in town ycsteiday, serving , as a witness for a neighbor in a final homestead proof, Thomas Alderdyce of Culver was in town yesterday, and made final proof upon his homestead in that neighborhood. C. C. Lnmson of Culver was in town yesterday, acting as witnesses in the homestead proofs of several of his neigh bars. A. C. Snnford went to I'rineville the first of the week, and from there to Port land, where he is looking after business matters. G. Springer of Culver was in town yes terday, looking after business for the Grizzly Lake Lumber Co, of which he is manager. Miss Marie Monner. who recently returned, (rum a visit with her brother in Portland, is In town today from Agency Plains. John X. l-oley of Haycreck made final proof before Commissioner Osboin today. Lyn Nichols and John ,Mcn- Icr were his witnesses. Mis. J. C. Waymirc, Miss Jessie Ishaui, and Archie and iicrt Isham left today for i'rineville, where (hey will spend a day or two visiting relatives. The mail stage did not reach Madras today until after i o'clock, owing to the liitcness of the I'rineville stage, for which the Madras stage waits at H tinier. Bend basilic honor of being the birth place of the first Japanese baby ever born in Crook County, The baby, a boy, w.u born there last week to T. Kaita and wife, and was named Hen. The local lodge of Modern Woodmen of America held a social session at their lodge room, last .Saturday evening, mem bcr ol the order and their wives and a few friends being present. A supper was served in the lodge-room, Andrew Larsen made final commuta tion proof on his homestead on Agency Plains last Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs Larsen, who have been living on the homestead, expect to move down to Madras to reside at early date. The creation of the Lyle Gap voting precinct will reduce the voting strength of Kutchcr precinct by a few votes, as the new precinct takes off a portion of the tcnitory heretofore in Kutchcr. The new precinct takes in the north end of Agency Plains. John Moore of Hend spent several days in Madras this week, leaving for his home this morning, Mr. Moore has the contract for sinking sevcralydcep wells for, the U. I. & P. Co. near Hend, and wa here trying to 'Secure part of a drill to replace a broken part on his large drill, Jim Rice of Haycreck, is nttending the meeting of the National Woolgrowers' Association at Helena, Montana, as a delegate from the Oicgon association, The attendance at the national convention of sheepmen is said to be the largest in the history of the association, Judge Hrooks has been supplied with registration books and blanks for this precinct, and the registration of the voters of this precinct has nlteady begun. Voters nre advised to conic in at once and regis ter and not put this important matter oil until the last moment. You will have to register before you can participate in1 the primary. The State Press Club meets at Port- and today and tomoirow, and many ed itors from every section of the state will gather, The press association has re- ently been reorganized, this being the first meeting since the reorganization, and a .session nf much interest and which will esult in great be nr-liu to the newspaper fiaterntty throughout the state is expected.
