Senate Committee on Transpor tation Routes to the Seaboard for the Forty-third Congress; the extension ot public credit to the Texas and Pacific Railway to such an extent and hi such manner trmt as will secure its early completion with tlie following guarantees from tlie owners ot that road: The building of a double track, steel rails, from the Atlantic sea board, at New York, to the Mississippi river, at St. I.ouis. to be ued exclusively for freight trntlie. The above resolutions were referred to the Committee on Resolutions. Mr. IMniels. of Virginia, presented two hills for tlie consideration ot the Conven tion. He remarked that they were not supposed to be perfect in detail, and he i boped they would lie subjected to the mot searching criticism. These bills which are row before Congress were to form a United States Bureau of highways, sndto construct the Norfolk. Rio Ormde aud Tapalo Vampo Internationa! Railroad. Mr. Daniels pointed out that the principle of this bill was that the people built and owned the rortd. The matter was reterrcd to the Committee on Resolutions. It is understood that an attempt will tie made to capture tlie convention in belmlt ' of Tom Scott's scheme. It was with the ' view of facilitating this that Mr. Harris, ot Kentucky, presented his resolutions to counteract their effect, and Mr. Daniels Introduced the two bills for the considera tion of the convention. By tin Tapalo Vampo road it is claimed it is 300 or 400 miles nearer from Chicago to the Taciiic coast than by the Texas Pacific; besides the former (passes through an inhabited country, and Mexico has ottered $1,500 a mile toward its construction. Circuit Court Jndge Drnmmond decided on tlie demurrer to the bill ot the Thames Tvoan and Trust Company vs. Maloney, that it was competent lor a foreign corpo ration to loan money upon mortgage of real estate in Indiana, the laws of the State Dot having expressly prohibited snch corporation from taking real estate securi ty. The demurrer was overruled and the defendant required to answer. niuster on the Lakes. Detroit, Dec 1G. Captain J. Wham, marine reporter, states the number of dis asters on the lakes during the present sea son at 1,056, a decrease from last year ot 131. Of this number, 53G occurred on Iake Michigan. 152 on Lake Huron, 139 on Lake Erie, C2 on Lake Outaria and Lake St. Clair 26 on Lake Superior and 4i! on the rivers. Eighty-five vessels of all descriptions, of the aggregate carrying ca pacity of 27.177 tons, valued at 1.049.000 have passed out of existence. Tweutj -five new vessels with an aggregate capac ity 14,787 tons, valued at $ 1,109,500, were commissioned during the year. Quiet was then maintained until the moment of execution. Atter the arri val of Sheriff Conner at tho prison there was not much delay.
