George Protzman, the veteran bill poster, returnel Wednesday morning from attendance at the Pacific Coast Bill-posters Convention, and the Lew is and Clark Fair. Mrs. Protzman re named in Portland to visit a few days with her daughter, Mrs. Mellick. Joseph Micelli and family and A. Schmiser and wife left Tuesday morning for Portland to attend the fair. From Portland Mr. Micelli will go to Phila delphia to attend tha Sovereign Grand Lodge L O. 0. F., as one of the four grand representatives of Oregon. J. B. Eddy, formerly one of the pro prietors of the Plaindealer called at this office, yesterday. At present he is in the employ of the Southern 1'acific and looks after right of way and tax matters, with his headquarters at Portland where he will hereafter read the Plain- j dealer. He was in yesterday consulting with the county commissions regarding a much desired change in the public road on j Pass Creek. The proposition was to so change the road as to eliminate two ol the railroad crossings and thus obviate the danger which such places often tor public highway. The county Colons saw the wisdom of such a change nd g'sdly granted the permission to mke Buch change. Mr- udy thinks Douglas county is all right. In other words, he regards this as one of the most promising pec- tions in Southern Oregon and be thinks there is a great future in store for all lhis r -gion. Dr. Ralph W. Lane, western agent for the Perana Medical Co., of Columbus, Ohio, paid Roseburg a visit in his offi cial capacity Wednesday.
