McClallen expects to have the tax rolls ready for the col lection of taxes by Feb. 20, ll0o. As a writer of melodrama, Lem B. Barker has struck a popular chord. His latest triumph "Nettie' the News Girl," will be at the Roseburg theatre Friday evening, Feb. 17. Apart from the story which ends somewhat out of the ordinary, the play has been given a most accurate and elaborate t-tae setting. Special eople are carried to look after and obtain the rarious electrical and mechanical effects with which the play abounds. As a play, few of native make have been more fortunate and have been more forcefully dramatic or has more deftly combined the elements which ap peal to the emotions, than the story of "Nettie, the News Girl," which appear at the Roseburg Friday Feb 17. Truly harmonious in its construction, pathetic, lovable and humorous, appeal ' ing in detail to all alike, the young, the old, the grave. 'the careless, those who i iov or weep, all who have witnessed to this drama will have felt a mighty in- ! tluence from a mighty play. Norma.s are Safe. Play ers are not mentioned. Douglas Retains Bohemia Mines. Salem, Feb. 13. (Special.) The boundary line dispute between Ine and Douglas counties regarding the Bohemia mining district has this day been unfavorably reported by the committee and is indefinitely postpon ed. Representative Sonnemann of Douglas county, was very aggressive in his opposition to this bill and it was principally through his tirm stand against the measure that this rich mining territory was retained by Douglas county, although it was vig orously championed by the Lane coun ty delegation and a strong lobby.
