We get a soul the same way we get a mind and body. If a man does not exercise his arm he develops no biceps muscle. If a man does not exercise his soul he acquires no strength of char- acter. no soul fibre, nor beau- ty of spiritual growth Love is a not an enthusiastic emo- tion. It is a rich, strong, man- ly. vigorous expression of its whole Christian character.— Henry Drummond. THE PORTAGE IN SIGHT. ral products; and in the month of June manufacturers amounted to $12. 000.000. against $37.250.000 of agri cultural products. Even in the seven months ending with July. 1904. agricultural products exceed manufactures by nearly $100.- 000,000. but in th.e month of May. 1904. manufactures for the first time in the history of the country exceed ed agricultural products in the vol ume of domestic exports, and this was again the ease in June and July. In the month of May. 1904. exports of manufactures exceeded agricultu ral products by about $1.000.000; in June the excess of manufactures over agricultural products was nearly $4.- 000,04*0. and in July the excess of manufactures over agricultural pro- duets was nearly $9,000,000. In the fiscal year just ended agri cultural products formed a smaller percentage of the total exports than ever before, falling for the first time below 6o per cent. This change in the character of the exports of the country a movement from agricultural products toward manufactures.—is due rather to an in crease in the home production of manufactures than to any actual de- crease in the home production of ag ricultural products.
