JNewman, an em- ployeeof the People's TiQnsportation Company at this city, met with a serious accident on Tuesday last, by falling while en$u;-ed in moving a heavCgang plank lie fell from the upper dock, a distance of something like fourteen teal, and was so badlv hurt that he had to be carried away lie was provided with a room at the Cliff House, where medical assistance was ob tained. and on Wednesday was taken to his residence, on Bluff street. We are pleased to learn that he is improving. Real Estate Changes. We have re ceived one-half, we suppose, of the list of premiums to be awarded at the next an nual Fair of the State Agricultural Society. Rowley, as one ofothe committee on sheep- We hope the man agement of the fair this year will be bet ter than for years past. But In the begin ning we have something to Cud fault about. They should place at the heading of the list of premiuuis the tune of the fair. According to our understanding last week, the fair was to have b,eyn held in Septem ber, beginning on the loth dav, and con tinuing for live days, but according to this halt a programme, it is to take place " October 1807." We decline publishing the list until we can do so understand ing. If this fair is to be like the previ ous ones, we shall most respectfully de cline) having anything to do with it anyhow. The Christian College. A few days since we had the pleasure of making the acquaintance! Dr. ;s. tiuuson, Professor of mathematics and natural science, of the above college, located at Monmouth, in Lane countv. The prospectus of the col lege, which appears elsewhere in our col umns, will show that this institution is on a basis which is well adapted for the pro motion of practical education. We trust that the Trustees may meet with unbound ed success in their work, and to do this we shall cheerfully lend them our humble influence, so far as it goes. Oswego.
