On Thursday, the 6th annual re union of the Pioneer Society of South ern Oregon, tovk place at Ashland. The day was exceptionally pleasant, and at an early hour, our neighboring town, which seemed, with its nt tractive homes, towering church spires, blooming flowers and rippting waters, to liavu taker on a special air of wel come, was rapidly filling wiih old pin nevrs, their families and friends, from a'l parts of the country. The grove above Ashland was a scene of pleas ant activity, where every tiling- had been prepared for the occasion. The assemblage was called to order about 10 A. M. by president E. K. Anderion wuh J. M. McCall as marshal of the dav. The first thing on the programme was music by the string band, followed by a most impressive praver and invocation by the Rev. Mr Russell. The ceremony of driving the golden spike, which completed the Northern Pacific railroad, and permanently joined the Northern Pacific coast with the Atlantic, has just beerr completed at half past - 3 o'c ock.
