As you seem to talk pretty plainly on different subjects will you do a constant reader a favor by touching up iho hoodlums, who are so common in Uim city. W. Now, Mr. Hoodlum, you may con sider yourself on ijn Hand. You are a bad,.. wor.UiJes-Jn-JVo;L-sho2Wto aahamed of yourself for thn careless, selGsh manner in which ion live. There is nothing manly at all iu the way in which you conduct youmlf, you good for nothing fellow. Now, what earthly benefit did you ever do rive from disturbing religious meetings? Does it do you any good to seo tho worthy patoa of the Methodist church confused by your foolish antics. In San Francisco your brothers in hood lumism aro known by the clothes they wear; their stiff brimmed hats and flanged pants give them away, and they steal with the impunity of a highway robber, that's a part of their business. You may not wear a stiff hat and a pair of flanged pants, but your actions give you away "all tho same," and al though you do not steal money and jewelry, you steal other people's com fort and happiness and peaco of mind, which is just a bad. Oh, you say, "boys will be boys." That is true, but it is no excuse for their being rowdies and hoodlums. One can be a boy and have a big en joyable time uhile young, and still bo manly and noble in his character. It is aU right to have all the fun you can, but it is not right to make everybody about you uncomfortable and disagree able, do you appreciate that fact? I am taking to quite a number in Al bany, for I am sorry to say many of tho boys in this city have got it in their heads that it is a fine thing to be a hoodlum, and make fun in publie meet tgs, ami hang round corners ana y srf 5S&V!b$ ' (IwpiMfSuf Butt know better, v &&). the seed for a dissipated, unreliable, unsuccessful life. It is all very well to talk about its being necessary to sow wild oats, but they never helped any one vet, and no 0110 over heard of their coming up wheat; they nearly always beget mere wild oits. Hoodlum men generally succeed hoodlum boys. And now about the girls, I have been astonished at the number hero who are genuine, out and out hoodlums. Lacking refinement, they are careless in their habits and take more prido than the boys in making those around them wretched. Just think of young ladies going around tho streets insult ing people. Yet there aro several in this city who make a practice of it. They treat no ono with respect, and what thev are good for is a mystery to me, but I suppose some of them will grow into bad w ives and others into worse ones, somotimes, perhaps, into better ones. Girls, for tho sake of puro womanhood, stop it before you arc ruined. It is as oasy to be a lady as a hoodlum, and far better. I would rather be a cat bird or a hyena, and would think more of myself as a boa constrictor. Young people, thitik of the con tumely of being condemned by public opinion, of being looked upon with dis gust by those around you. You can't afford it if you ever have any ambition to go iuto business, or cet married, or if you even expect to livo you should do something to merit the respect of yourself, if of no one else. "Albany Democrat." A travler from abroad is tolling a very amusing story. With his wifo he sought for accommodation at a hotel near Geneva and found the place so full that he and madamo had to be contented with a bed chamber impro vised out of a bathroom. During tho iii"bt the husband pulled a cord at tached to tho wall, -which he supposed to be a bell rope. The immediate response was a terriablo douche of cold water. The bed drenched pair yelled for assistance and were speedily the cynosure of a highly amused crowd of cuests and writer?, attired in all sorts of costumes. Tho Jacksonville Sentinel announces that its rooster is to sick too appear in public. Why not trot him out brother Krause; give him an airing and let him flap his wings; he will feel better and can crow louder in 1884. Give him a chance and you will find that "e'en though vanquished he can holler still." "Curry Countv Post." ISP J"
