telegraph wire was laid down in
Germany. Recently subterranean
lines have been completed from
.Berlin to Cologne; Cologne Eber
Jield and Barom; Frankfort to
Strasburg, and from Hamburg
to Cuxhavcn. Altogether the
length of these lines now amounts
to 1554 English miles. Most of
the cables consist of seven wires,
