Not a word has been re ceived up to this time either confirming or contradicting the Philadelphia report of lust night, as to 111" capture of Richmond. The report Is still believed in thin city, but roll credit should not be given it until fur thcr Information is received. New York, loth the Times' correspondent says tho Htoncmnn raid partlculara are about, ns follows : His whole force crooned to the Orange ami Alexandria road, when tiny met two rebel regiments. After u skirmish the rebel retreated towards Gor dnnsvlllc. 1) ii fords force crossed the Rnpl nan at Morton's ford, causing l.f00 infan try to vacate Raccoon Fork. They then crowd the Rappahannock, and on the let of May our forces got close on the heels of the rebels. On the 2d of May Loulsnnn Court House wa occupied without opposi tion. The railroad track towards Gordons vlllu wns destroyed for ten miles, and two trains of ears were captured and burned. Soon after, a detachment destroyed u por tion of the railroad between Gnrdonsvillc and Charlottville. Another detachment, under Colonel Wyndlium, proceeded to James River and destroyed five locks, sev eral boats and a large quantity of commis sary stores. Attempts were made to des troy lb'! ucqucditcts, but were unsuccessful. Several splendid horses were token. A part of the Mb cavalry reached the river be tween Columbia and Richmond, nnd des troyed the locks and levees, and set ll-e to the bridges across James river. Gen. Gregg pushed oil the Fredericksburg road to Ash land, and destroyed the depot in that town, the rilroad cars, provisions nnd telegraph. A detachment was sent to burn the bridges over the South Anna, but they were found strongly guarded. A portion of Ids force, under Killpntrick, moved cnt towards the Central i ailroad und destroyed the bridge over the South Anna. They also captured a train of cars. On the lilli, Hampton with two brigades attacked sixty men of the fith cavalry, on picket duty. The ch.irge was met by a counter-charge, and the rebels were temporarily repulsed, tail rallied and captur ed seventeen of our men. On the tith, u ret rogade movement was commenced, and the whole brigade arrived at Kelly's Ford on the. morning of the 7th. Our whole loss wu two killed, seventeen wounded and sev enteen taken prisoners. The negroes joined the columns in Hocks, und begged to be taken away. They everywhere gave us val uable lufoi niallou, and acted an guides at several points. The lciahl't Washington dispatch says it is reported that General Lee sent a Hag of truce, asking supplies for the Federal wounded, staling that his army was deficient, and communication with his medical sup plies cut oil'. Cairo, lOlh. General Grant has sent 1,000 prisoners to Mllllkin's licud. Tart of Ills lorce, wnen last nearu irnm, was witmr. twenty mile of Jackson. His men carried rations for seven days. R Is reported that tho railroad bridge over Big lllack river has been destroyed, thus cutting oil' the reb els from Yicksburg. Murfreesborn, fllh. Tho news from rebel sources tonlglit is, that Col. Straight, who left here three weeks since, was captured witli 1.700 men. It is stated that ho ad vanced as far as Rome, Georgia, destroying thu railroad bridges, much property, nnd the largo Iron works on the Coomi ; but In falling back he was assailed by the rebels, who wero greatly superior to him in num bers. Ho had live battles with them and was finally compelled to surrender. Philadelphia, lOlli. Tho Washington cor respondent of Forney' J'ms, says it is un derstood that Gen. liuford. with eight brig ades penetrated the Alleghany ridge, West ern Vn and that he Is now returning, hav ing destroyed tho Richmond and Tennessee railroad In several places. He captured many prisoners nnd gained much valuable Information. Ho burned large quantities of the. stores of tho rebel army in the South and west. lMeasenton's cavalry crossed the river and proceeded immediately to tho front, for tho purpose of leconnoltering tho enemy's po sition. Two hours brought them to our old position ucarCliancctlorvillc. In this neigh borhood no rebels were found, except the dead and wounded. Tho dead were buried properly and as rapidly as possible. A conslderblo number of stragglers and skulk ers from rebels, and somo of our men, came Into the lines und gave themselves up. Thu former protested that they had no feeling in this war and wero willing to take thu oath of allegiance New York, lltli. Tho Trihuno thinks tho position in Virginia is as follows: Our forces at Suffolk ami tho Peninsula mado a demonstration on Richmond early lust week. Leo was apprised thut tho rebel cap ital must fall, without prompt Eupport from Ids army, and ho had clearly began to send troops towards Richmond on Thursday last. Lee, or some ono else, with a good part of his force, was well on his wny to Richmond Thursday. Booker, with his army freddy provisioned, crossed tho Ruppalianuock Fri day night. He found but a screen of pick ets in front. No enemy worth mentioning this side of North Anna river, Tho rebel force readied Richmond just in time to pre vent its capture by forces from Fortress Monroe. Tho week will uot pass without Stirling news from Richmond or the banks of the Pumunkoy, A dispatch from Hooker's headquarters, dated Jth, states that all tho wounded in our lines havo been properly cared for, Thoso within the euemys lines will bu sent over to us. Yreka, midnight, 12th. A general be lief prevails throughout this Statu that Richmond has been captured. As yet there Is no evidence that thu rumor is uot correct, 0cmt-lUcckln Sentinel. QuRRtics. Have you ever heard a self, styled ' " Constitutional Democrat" say ought against tho monstrous rebellion of J iff. Davis and his fellow conspirators? Have you ever heard this interesting personage denounce or condemn the infa mously treasonable organization of the " Knights of the Golden Circle?" Have you ever heard of his approving of one single mensure of the Government for the suppression of the rebellion, and the vindication of its rightful authority? Ilnvi you overheard these constitutional blatants quote n single sentence from the instrument, of which they ure the self-constituted and silly expounders ? Is it not nn interesting sight to sec n man who can scarcely read ensy lessons by spelling half the words, laying down with dogmatic exactness the great principles of constitutional law ? Bah ! The lied Bluff IndepcmU enl, in its latest issue, has the following : " Plans for tho cupture of Fort Crook in thnt or the adjoining county were dis covered the present week, just in time to prevent the currying out of tho project. The parties to whom was intrusted the car rying nut of the rebel enterprise, approached u citizen of thut section, offering ample in ducements for him to engage in the attempt, stating to him the plans nnd intentions of the Secessionists which were, to cuptuie the Fort with its arms nnd ammunition which, by the wny, could havo been easily accomplished at that time by u dozen men nnd uso the Fort a reiulezvaui jnr guerrilltts. They struck tho wrong man, and the consequence was, that information of their movements was conveyed to (lie Fort, und the parties were arrested and uro now in irons at the Fort, awaiting the or der of General Wright. It is no longer to be denied that there exists throughout the State an organization for thu purpose of plunging California into tho vortex of civil wnr, and it icmains for citizens who desire pence to prepare them selves for whatever emergencies may arise. To maintain peace, we must be. prepared for war. und there is no time to be lost in the preparation. Thu first rebel demnnsrta tint) must be squelched in the bud, if we would escape the horrors thut havo been thrust upon Missouri. There ure plenty of rascals who have nothing to lose and everything to gain, who are seeking to plunge the Stato into tho terrible ordeal of war. There nre men of influence nnd stand ing in society who aid and abet these ras cals, and urge them on in their damnable woik. It stands every pence-loving citizen to be on his guard, remembering that ' eter nal vigilance is the price of liberty.' " Tiik BoTsk Minks. Tho Walla Walla Stiitcsinan says that the " advance guard " of disappointed Boise miners arc nlieady returning. They report others on the road, nnd their statements in lelntion to the mines arc not so flattering us eomo that have been publshed. Ilonss: TiiKir Cavoiit The Dalles Journal says thnt nn the 27th tilt. , u man named William Powers, was nrrcsted nl that place, and committed to jail to uwnit the action of the Circuit Court. Ivii.i.r.n. We learn that a man named Amos Overlander was killed just us he was entering Hell Gate. No sensible man, in our opinion, would go so war hell gate alive. He threatened thu lives of two men at tho Gute nnd one of them shot fivo balls through his body. Tills Overlander is tiie parly who killed nn Indian on Alpnwai Creek, ubout one year since, without provo cation, nnd " Big Thunder" has demanded his delivery into custody before lie would give up ono of his men who murdered a white-man near the Agency lust fall. Gol deu Age. Many a glorious speculation bits failed for the same good reasou that the old Texan Hunger gnvo when he wus. asked why he didn't buy land when it wus dog cheap. " Well I did como nigh on to taking eight thousund ncrcs 'onest," said old Joe, mourn fully. " You see, two of the boys cumo in one day from nn Indian hunt, without any shoes, und ottered me their titles to the two leagues just below here Iota pair of boots," " 'For a pair of boots ! we exclaimed. " Yes, for a pair of boots for each league." But why on earth did you not tnke it? They'd bo worth one hundred thousand dollars today. Why didn't you give them tho boots ?" Jest because I didn't have the boots to give, said old Joe, as ho took another chew of tobacco, quite as contented as if ho owned two hundred leagues of land. . .. - i Skmous Acoidknt. Yesterday after noon, while Mr. O. P. Ho immediately took fright and started off at u furious rate, throwing Mrs. Ferry to the ground. We learn thut she has received some very se rious injuries.
